🐶MALES VS FEMALES AS FAMILY PETS🐶
Does a male or a female make a better pet for you and your family?
It's not uncommon for people to believe that a female dog will make a better pet. We get a lot of calls for people wanting that "special little girl". For whatever reason they don't think that females will exhibit "alpha" behaviors like hu***ng and/or marking. A lot of people think that females are more passive and friendly and that they don't take part in fighting over dominance, which could NOT be farther from the truth. If you check out the structure of dog packs, the females determine the pecking order and rule the roost. The result of that behavior is that the females become more stubborn, independent, and territorial than the males. These females are much more intent on exercising their control by participating in that "alpha" behavior like hu***ng.
Most fighting will usually break out between two females.

Paws off fireworks or explosive materials🧨🎆🧨
If your pets are NOT fearful of the noise and will be outdoors with you, be sure they are restricted from areas where explosives are lit, set off, and fall. Exposure to lit fireworks can potentially result in severe burns and/or trauma to the face and paws of curious pets. Even unused fireworks can pose a danger. Many explosives contain potentially toxic substances, including potassium nitrate, arsenic and other heavy metals.

Don’t be a party pooper!
If you’re planning a July 4th party, remind your guests to be careful around your pets when setting off smaller fireworks or playing with sparklers and even feeding table scraps to your furry friends. Greasy grilled foods like hamburgers and hot dogs, side dishes containing ingredients like garlic, onions, and avocados, and desserts containing chocolate or the sugar substitute xylitol can all cause digestive upset like vomiting, diarrhea or worse! Save a trip to the emergency clinic this weekend and keep those goodies away from the fur babies

Common signs of noise-related stress can include shaking, panting, excessive drooling, hiding, and trying to run in or out of the house. Once the festivities begin, keep your pet in a safe room where they feel comfortable. They may want to hide under your bed or in your closet; anywhere that lets them feel safe and secure. Take time out of the day to reassure and comfort your pet. Play music or other white noise to help mask the sound of explosions. If your dogs are crate trained and enjoy this spot, let them go in, then cover the crate with a blanket; this will give them a greater sense of security

The safest and best bet for celebrating this Fourth of July with your pets is to exclude them from holiday festivities, at least this time around. Instead, find a safe, secure spot in the home for your pets while you go out and enjoy the loud bangs, bright lights and fun. Your pets will appreciate the quiet a lot more than you’ll enjoy the noise.
