Winter is in full swing at the Homestead. The feeders are hopping with winter birds. They bring so much joy on those dreary cold days.

A shelter doggo's job well done. ❤️❤️

Today Foster was invited to a special Santa visit where he got a Santa photo (to come), a bag of goodies, and was presented with his Certificate of Retirement as a blood donor.

Foster gave 11 blood donations over his time as a donor. He was well known for helping himself up onto the table unassisted (much to his tech's chagrin 😅), and for being a goodest boi.

That'll do, big guy. ❤️

The kids - Jason MaMeowa, Mrs. Monopoly, and Crash BandiCat, are almost done of their journey at the Homestead. They have grown in confidence (and size!) and it has been lovely getting to know each of them individually. They'll make lovely family members when the time comes.

We've just recently heard of a loss to the Homestead family this past week.

Maggie had been a regular visitor here for a long time. She was a quirky, funny, sweet, and unique girl. She loved her time here and made some friends along the way.

We send our condolences to her family. DogSpeed, sweet Mags.

One month shy of 14, and still the best barn chores buddy.

These bebes are super shy, but are starting to come around and come out of their shells a bit. They no longer run to hide when I come in the room, and have just started taking part in wand toy play with curiosity. ❤️

Whim's careful reverence for the Murder Mittens species makes me laugh so much. He absolutely loves them while simultaneously knowing that any of them may change their mind at any time. 🤣🤣 Pumpkin Spice, on the other hand, simply adores him.

Why my blankets are always a wreck no matter how many times I fold them......

Please enjoy this tiny baby birb demanding food. We found it in our yard this morning with no nest or worried parents present, and is a wee bit too young to be out of a nest, so for its safety, we contained it. It is now headed off to the local wildlife rescue to grow a little more with other bebes until it can be released.
