I see these Aversive dog trainers on YouTube. They bring in big bucks but I don't get it. These excited happy jumpy dogs (not those that want to fight all dogs) NEED A JOB! They, like people need to have a hobby, a job to run out all that energy they have. Then that specific problem will damper way down or go away. I love the Flirt Pole for the Standard Schnauzer that I gave Roger as a pup. If he does not burn off energy, he then goes into straight out attack mode on walks around dogs and strangers. With his job/s I give him when the sun goes down he is fantastic! He can then go outside and walk quietly. Roger works many more hours that I do, so he can't be on it much at all. Then at times we have a strange guy asking for money etc. we then let Rhein bark and lunge on lead at that person. Walk away Rhein stops. Don't come on or near the property and start begging for money...That's when I allow Rhein to do his job. My little rescue is starting to bark outside now...I simply just yell HEY and clap my hands he stops and runs up to me. Good dog. Training never stops. It's a second job.

For the last time. Are Dogs Dominant.
NO. They experience fear, anxiety or a learned behavior. This to many trainers looks like Dominance.

The MYTH has been Debunked years ago.

First on Google speaks of this behaviors. Dogs NOT being dominant

I have a neighbor who claims his dog is dominant. I explained this to him, the dog will bite out of fear.

Tip: dogs or pups who walk on cool side walks will naturally file down their nails. If you can't do this black nails are harder to cut than light nails, due to not being able to see the quick or toe nail. If they are black like my pups nails, I just tip them off enough to make him comfortable. Once you cut the nail quick and it bleeds the dog will remember this because it hurts and make this a Vets. job for you perhaps. Tipping off the nail works wonders, don't make them too short. PS always play with your dogs feet so they get used to being touched.

We have a ton load of Pit Bulls and Pit mixes who need homes. These dogs are NOT naturally bad given what they had been bred for. Most are sweet and are super smart. I see more as Service Dogs now and love that sight.

Above is one I had fostered. Wonderful dog, did some basic training and we both loved the work! Treat them bad and they will treat you bad. Treat any dog bad you should be in Jail!

TIP: Never hit your dog because he did something in the home you don't approve of. Dogs ARE NOT so forgiving, they learn your behaviors as well. A noise maker when caught in the act works. When the dog stops the behavior praise the dog. Dogs live in a moment. He is getting praised for coming to you and not performing a bad behavior at that past moment.

If you want a bad ass dog because you look cool. That's the wrong reason. Research the breed you want, get it ASAP into proper Obedience Training, and have a well behaved dog.

Tip: Never flip a dog on it's back or side when it has misbehaved. First, you may harm the spine. Second Dogs KNOW we are NOT dogs and don't understand this method of "Training." All a person is doing for the moment/s you hold a dog down is shutting the dog down. The dog learns fear that way and avoidance of it's owner.

Tip: A cool wet wrap around your dogs neck helps keep the dog cooler. Still AC as we want it now dogs do too. I see people walking dogs at noon on sidewalks. This is burning their pads on the feet, I have seen bloody feet being treated at the county shelter. Shade and grass with a cool wet wrap if you must be out with your dog. Water bowl with ice chips is great! But make sure the dog drinks slowly and not too much at once, that could be dangerous.
