Pet Assistance Network We believe that pets are family, which is why we work so hard to keep families together with programs like our community pet food bank.

In today's tough economy, many families are struggling to make ends meet. They are being forced to make tough decisions concerning their furry family members - they either can't afford to feed them, or they're being forced to move into new homes where their pets are not welcomed. I formed the Pet Assistance Network in an effort to help prevent pets from being displaced from their loving homes and

families. The goal of PAN is to help these pet-loving families to keep their pets healthy and part of their families. We feel that we can help to curb the growing number of homeless and abandoned pets by helping pet owners KEEP their pets.

I just saw this and thought it was a great idea for businesses here to start if they don't already. It's a great way to collectively pay it forward when we are blessed in our own lives and able help others less fortunate . ❤️

Copy and pasted:

There is a little coffee shop, where two people arrive and approached the counter.
“Five coffees please. Two for us and three hanging.”
They paid, they took their two coffees and left.
I asked the waiter. "What’s this about hanging coffees?"
“Wait and you'll see."
Some more people came in.
Two girls asked for a coffee each, they paid & left.
The following order was for seven coffees and it was made by three women - ‘three for them and four hanging coffees.’
I was left wondering...what is the meaning of the hanging coffees, they leave.
Then, a man dressed in worn clothes, who looks like he might be homeless, arrives at the counter and asks sincerely...
“Do you have a coffee hanging?"
“Yes we do, sir.”
They serve him a coffee.... I got my answer.
People pay in advance for a coffee that will be served to whoever can't afford a hot drink.
This tradition started in Naples.
Amazingly, it has spread throughout the world’s cities and towns.
It’s also possible to order not only "hanging coffees" but also a sandwich or a full low cost meal.
Wouldn’t it be great if we could all start doing this in the cities and towns where we live?
Small kindnesses like this can impact so many lives, in ways we could never imagine.

In Nashville, if you know people with animals who have no shelter, the only shelter in the city that accepts animals is the Metro Extreme Cold Weather Overflow Shelter, located at 3230 Brick Church Pike, allows pets. WeGo provides transportation support to the shelters. Shuttle transportation is also provided on shelter night from key stops across the city. Shuttle vans will transport riders to Music City Central so those needing shelter can ride bus number 23B to the shelter. 615-862-6391

Friends, we need your help to help someone who has escaped a Domestic Violence situation with their pets. Shelters do not allow pets, so they have nowhere safe to go. We are partnering with another small local non-profit to try to help them. The other organization was able to get them into a pet-friendly hotel for a few nights, but just like us, their resources (aka money) are limited. I cannot post any details about the pets or their person for their safety. We'd love to be able to extend their stay in the hotel while they regroup and figure out next steps.

BEWARE of fireworks residue! It is lethally toxic to pets and wildlife! During this 4th of July season of fireworks, please be extra cautious and keep an eye out for fireworks residue in your yards and on your walks. Carry an extra bag so you can pick up and properly dispose of anything you find, so that it won't be ingested by animals. We all know that not everyone will abide by their local laws and many will still set off their own fireworks. So, let's be extra vigilant in protecting our pets and wildlife. Wishing you all a safe and healthy Independence Day celebration this year! 🇺🇸🎆

I just wanted to take a moment to wish everyone Happy Holidays! I know it's been very quiet on this page over the past year. I have had a lot on my plate in my personal life over the past 16 months, so once Maiden, Damien and Rere were safely in forever homes, I had to take personal time for myself and my own dogs. Thank you for everyone's support in my mission to keep pets in their forever homes. Thankfully, there have been several other organizations in the Middle Tennessee area who have also seen the need for these types of programs and have been helping with this same mission. ❤️

If you are looking for an organization to donate to in memory of the amazing Betty White, we would be honored to be the recipient of your gift.

We are a very small, volunteer run organization trying to make a huge impact in our community with limited resources. 100% of all donations are spent on helping pets stay in their loving homes, keeping them out of our shelters and off the rehoming sites. No amount is too big or small. It all adds up to a family staying together through a difficult period...this is our mission in a nutshell. Thank you for your support now and always. ❤️

Just read this. What a lovely idea!

January 17th - Betty White Day

I think it would be GREAT if on January 17, 2022 all Animal Shelters are flooded with donations in Ms. Betty White's name. That would be a WONDERFUL gesture for what would have been her 100th Birthday. America, please let's do this for her. We all know her love for animals and taking care of them was her life mission. Just a thought. LETS DO THIS!!! 🐾❤️🐾❤️

I have an EXCITING announcement! Maiden and Damien have found their forever home! This truly was the ONLY thing I wanted for Christmas was for these sweet bonded seniors to be adopted and in their forever home by Christmas! They have been with their new family for a week and adjusting well. They have three lovely ladies to dote on them and shower them with love for the rest of their lives. I know that their Daddy would be so happy that all of his babies are in loving forever homes for the holidays. I cannot thank you all enough for sharing the posts numerous times and helping me fulfill my promise to their dad. These babies are in a home because their new mom saw them posted every time her friend shared our posts and after many family discussions, they reached out to offer them a loving forever home. So, there truly is no such thing as over sharing! Sharing truly is caring! My sad tears for them and their dad have turned into happy tears for them and their wonderful new family! Merry Christmas! 💚❤️🎄🎅👨‍👩‍👦🐶🐶

Update: NASHVILLE, TN - We haven't received a single inquiry for these sweet senior babies! Please SHARE and help us get them into a forever home for the HOLIDAYS! They are BONDED, so they must be adopted TOGETHER! They had blood work, dentals, vaccinations and received stellar check up reports back in July, so we've already done the expensive senior vetting! They just need a loving forever home. We will consider sponsoring their future vet expenses if necessary! We just want them to be back in a loving forever home.

Meet MAIDEN and DAMIEN! Their owner passed away, leaving them homeless. We have been helping care for them for most of 2021 while he was ill. These sweethearts have been through a lot this year and they were being fostered separately, but not doing well. So, we moved them into a foster home where they can be together. But, this is a temporary setup and they REALLY need to be in a forever home. Since they are seniors, we need a quiet home for them with no small children. They've lived with a senior cat (who has already been adopted), so calm dog-friendly cats are fine. They vie for their person's attention, so best to have no other dogs in the home adding to that competition.

They are extremely low maintenance dogs that are still very healthy and active. They love to go for walks, but don't require lengthy energy draining walks... just a leisurely sniff about keeps them happy and healthy.

If you are interested in adopting Maiden and Damien, please email [email protected]

RERE UPDATE: His foster dad has decided to adopt him!

For those who are unfamiliar with Rere's story, he is a 17 year old kitty whose owner passed away after spending most of this year in the hospital, leaving Rere and his two senior dog siblings in need of a new forever home. Pet Assistance Network has been helping care for these babies with pet sitting, food and litter, vet care and now rehoming.

Damien and Maiden, his dog brother and sister are still in need of a forever home together. For more information about them, please follow this link to our post about them.
