The dog walker-in-chief decided that new harnesses were required. He did the research, made the phone call and measured the girths. ( 😂 ) Dogs were excited to go for a car ride to Petbarn Rozelle. Hubby was not so excited to have make a return visit when Snowy’s new harness was too big. Hopefully tomorrow morning’s walk will be the better for this upgrade. 🤞🏼

Things to do while stuck in an aeroplane for 24 hours. I like to sort and edit photos in my phone. I have a few. Seems I’m pretty fond of the furry family members! 😜

School holidays - a day with our favourite 8yr old. We had to wait a bit in the car with mum. Of course she took photos!

What it’s like when we walk with mum and dad at 5.30am in the morning. Dark and cold - 5’C today. As we walked, our brother Jake was on a plane to Dubai. What is a plane? Where is Dubai? 🤷‍♀️

We forgot to tell you the exciting news. A package arrived. It was a present from our foster carer Sarah. We have rain jackets! It was weird the first time but eventually mum and dad got the hang of putting them on right. 🙄
They have been great in all the rainy weather. We stay cosy! ☔️ 💕👌🏼

Mama found this rain jacket that used to belong to Barney. It fits me! I go walkin’ in the rain, and I get less wet 😀

A rainy winter day. We got soaked in the park but mum dried us and wrapped me in my new woolly coat. Lots of Sunday snuggling. 🥰

Jack was not a well boy. For months he was crook with protein losing enteropathy caused perhaps by inflammatory bowel disease. Many treatments failed but finally a high dose of Prednisone for 7 days, a vitamin B12 injection and a radical change of diet and wonder of wonders … Jack is back. We are very happy and relieved 😊🙏🏻😊

The continuing not so pleasant story of our poor Jack. (and poor old me)
I took him back to the vet this morning. Severe diarrhoea for most of the last 3-4 months. Inflammatory Bowel Disease? Protein-losing enteropathy of unknown cause? No one seems to have a clear diagnosis or cure. The vet said if it were cancer, he’d be dead by now. On the plus side, most of the time he is eating again and accepting the meals I prepare - sweet potato, turkey, kangaroo - even scrambled eggs. His weight has stabilised. Today the vet gave him an injection of Vitamin B12 - there is some evidence of that being helpful. And he started a one week course of high dose cortisone. It’s bedtime and he’s been restless and running around erratically. I got up only to discover that he had vomited his dinner on the floor. He seems a bit calmer now. I guess we’ll see what tomorrow brings. 🤔

We’re back!
We come bearing good news. For this morning at least, both Jack and Snowy are the most improved dogs.

A stressful few months with Jack - gastro issues, chronic diarrhoea and weight loss. In my efforts to get food into him I’ve become a dog’s gourmet chef. On the weekend his appetite rekindled and he’s definitely seeming more perky. Meanwhile today Snowy is the problem, not at all her bubbly self. She is barely mobile, couldn’t make it past the gate to go to the park. At first I feared the worst. Thankfully I managed to tempt her with breakfast. Very slowly and gingerly she made it back to her bed. I suspect an injured or strained hip or back. If only I could speak their language. Fingers crossed she will improve from a day of rest

Beautiful Jack. He got very sick in early February. Diarrhoea, vomiting, weight loss and no interest in food. We saw the vet three times and the suggestion was inflammatory bowel disease. Turns out he is 12 yrs old. It’s been very up and down, steps forward and back, sometimes very upsetting. All this going on at the same time as bathroom renovations and a husband sick in hospital. Anyhow, I think we have turned a corner. A lot of my time is spent making Jack’s meals - mashed sweet potatoes, ground boiled chicken breast, two kinds of rice, minced turkey, kangaroo, lecithin, baby food, and beef bone broth. Not only is he eating again - he wants more. Happy me! 😊

During bathroom renovations we are living between houses. Snowy is pleased with herself. She has just figured how to open the sliding door to the loo. She loves to visit with me. It’s her thing. 💕

Bathroom renovations. Unsettling change of routine. Living between two places. Dogs not sure what’s going on. Ongoing tummy troubles for Jack. As always, we count our blessings. 🎁♥️🎁
