Heads Up Alabama!
USDA will once again be distributing oral rabies vaccines across much of Alabama. (Photo is a small part of the info released.)
It’s my understanding these are released from the air. I don’t know how well the distribution areas are controlled.
Be aware of anything your pets may try to eat while on walks, at the park and anywhere outside. The press release does state that GI upset can occur. Personally, I do NOT want my pets ingesting these, especially the seniors and those with health concerns.

The deadly heat continues. Please take care of yourselves, each other and the animals! Use common sense.
If your pet does overheat, do NOT dump cold water on them, this is very dangerous and makes the situation much worse. Use cool water only.
By the way, if you choose to take your dogs on long walks on the hot sidewalk at the hottest part of the day, I will have to say something…even if you’re my neighbor.

NO excuses accepted for leaving pets (or children!) in the car alone!! Not even with the AC cranked up. If you’ve ever had a pet jumping around a cool car turn the AC from high to the heat to high you’ll know why!
Also, no, igloos are not shelter from heat. In fact, they are saunas in the heat!
If you see an animal suffering, say something!!!

Discovering Alabama-
Animal Friends and Animal Friends 2
Lengthy but a must watch for Alabama animal lovers!
These shows include some great info, great organizations and great people. Sadly, it also includes a couple people who claim to put animals first but choose money and politics as their top priorities.
Overall, we love that Alabama’s too frequent lack of concern, funding and education is being given air time!

Food for thought….
Some people love underground fences and see nothing wrong with the collars that shock their dogs to keep them contained. I hear all the time that it’s much more responsible than dangerously and illegally letting a dog roam free. But here’s the thing, some dogs are determined. I’ve watched more than one dog run through the “fence” knowing they were going to get shocked. To some, chasing a squirrel, meeting a playmate or just exploring the neighborhood is worth the shock.
I can’t promise you a physical fence will contain every dog every time. But I can promise you that if your dog gets lost wearing an e-collar, they will NOT get shocked again to go home.
Is it worth it?

If you were wrapped up in the Murdaugh murders trial like most of the country, you know Bubba helped identify the killer.
Prosecutor John Meadors said,

Had it not been for Bubba and him catching a Guinea (type of bird) Alex’s voice would not have been on that video, placing him at the scene of the crime.

Maybe if Alex hadn’t forced Bubba to live on a concrete pad in a kennel his entire life he wouldn’t have ratted him out? Just some food for thought…

Think your veterinary diet is specialized for your dog’s issues? Think again!

ANSWER:
1️⃣ Prescription diet
2️⃣ Regular pet store brand

Ingredients are often the same or even lower quality than in cheap pet store dog foods. And there’s no mystery … the same companies make both types of food so they use the same ingredients.

And the vet foods can say it’s for “joint support “ or “weight loss” or … but the pet store dog food … with the same ingredients … can’t … unless they prove it.

Wanna know why?

All pet store dog foods, whether high quality or low, are subjected to FDA regulations. But if it’s a veterinary diet, the FDA practices “enforcement discretion" and doesn't review or verify their health claims.

Did you catch that?

Same low quality ingredients … different rules … and different prices❗

Veterinary foods are often priced at a premium … sometimes twice the price of the budget pet store dog food.

So save your money or feed a better quality dog food with higher protein, lower carbs and fewer chemical ingredients to help your dog feel better.
