Just a reminder if you see something say something. Animals are not to be left outside during severe weather. It’s actually against the law in Connecticut. With that said here’s a few tips for keeping our pups safe during winter weather.

Always make sure your pup has access to plenty of water. Dry air and crazy weather conditions can cause cracking of sensitive skin.

Check those paw pads! Salt and sand on the road and sidewalks is tough. We always wipe down paws when we get inside!

Stay with your dog when outside, I know it’s cold but sometimes even big dogs have spatial issues when they’re surrounded by deep snow.

For small dogs and some of the bigger ones too try to clear an area of yard for them to do their business.

Short coated dogs and some of the longer coated ones too need help staying warm, sweaters and coats aren’t just for people.

Some breeds love the snow but make sure they’re not left unattended and monitor play to prevent injuries and exhaustion. Huskies, Samoyeds, Pomeranians I’m talking to you!

We received some terrible news last week about a previous client. We haven’t taken care of him in years since he moved out of state but once you’re family, you’re always in our hearts. Sweet Simcoe passed away at only 9 years young. We are heartbroken, Sim had a huge personality! He was beautiful, didn’t know it and goofy as hell but always the happiest boy ever! All our love to his people, Nadia Alexandra Johnson and family. Simcoe will forever be in our hearts and memories, rest easy sweet boy.

Rosebud is off to a new adventure. Unfortunately it is outside of our service area. It’s the hardest thing in petsitting when you get attached and then something changes. Rosebud was special, she went for walks at my sisters house and yard. She managed to get into all of our hearts. She’s family now and with tears in my eyes I wish her and her mom all the best in assisted living in New Haven. We will all miss her so much. Her mom still wants me to visit her and I will. Some would say being attached and friends with the owners and pets we care for is a weakness, we feel it it is all part of just being us. Jim and I love our clients like our own, we care for their families like our own, dog and human. Stay tuned for pictures when I visit, until then, be well sweet Rosebud and Sue, we are better to have met you and we will always carry you in our thoughts. 🐾❤️

We had a terrible year in 2024. We lost our own beloved dog Dice. So many of our clients were so involved with his health and our well being during that time. It is almost a year ago that Dice became ill, and he passed in November. Thank you to all our clients who gave us the flexibility to tend to his needs. We love you! There is good news though too. In January we adopted another pitbull in need who was severly neglected and we named him Bing. (Yes that’s a Matthew Perry reference).

So this happened in June. That’s right, we do weddings 😂. Nora and Bear had to be at their parent’s wedding so we brought them and handled them during the ceremony and pictures. We brought them home afterwards all safe and sound so their people could have an excellent reception!
