First things first, a little bit about myself and my life as an equine podiatry student. As you may of guessed my name is Luke, I'm 33 and have recently relocated from Somerset to the beautiful Angus Glens of Scotland with my wife Alice, 3 horses, 2 donkeys, a mule, 3 dogs and a cat! I am currently training with Equine Podiatry Training Ltd, who offer a LANTRA accredited level 5 Diploma in Equin

e Podiatry. That means I've been studying Anatomy & Physiology, Distal Limb Anatomy, Nutrition, Behaviour, Lameness, Gait Analysis and much more as part of my three year Diploma. Everyone say hello 👋 to Donkey one of my newest clients. I removed Donkeys shoes last weekend and as you can see the sun was shining, thank goodness. And the best part is she has taken to being barefoot like a duck to water 😁.

A little later than planned but last Saturday I had a lovely time at Auchlishie eventing trimming this superstar Cameron 🐴

Cameron was a little worried when trimming his hind feet but with patience and a positive approach the job was done in no time at all, he was an absolute pleasure to work with and I look forward to seeing him again very soon.

A true Golden Oldy 🐴

Everyone, meet Morgan👋. Yesterday evening was the first time that I have trimmed him and at the grand old age of 29 he is one of the oldest horses on my books, he has been there and done it and will happily stand for me to trim without needing to be held on to 🙌.

When trimming any elderly horse it's important to give them plenty of breaks and be as efficient as possible when the hoof is up on the stand, definitely a case of less haste, more speed to keep them happy and comfortable.

Hello! 👋 I'm Luke, I'm currently a second year student studying a LANTRA approved level 5 Diploma in Equine Podiatry with Equine Podiatry Training Ltd.

In case you weren't aware I'm incredibly passionate about helping horses to achieve the healthiest hooves possible through correct trimming and empowering owners to implement positive changes to improve the soundness and usability of their barefoot horse 🐴.

If I'm not trimming clients' horses I will likely be at my day job in the gas industry and when I'm doing neither of those you'll find me at home with our horses, donkeys, mule and our two dogs.
