Oh, hello there, I'm Twilight, a bubbly 5-year-old pup who's all about spreading love and joy! My old hoomans were worried I might be expecting, but it turned out to be something way more sinister - Pyometra! Luckily, the kind-hearted shelter folks saved my life with the right medical care. Phew!
I heard Pyometra can be a real nightmare - painful and even fatal. Yikes! But, the good news is, we can stop this ugly monster in its tracks by getting our fur babies spayed! Trust me, it's worth it. I'm now wagging my tail in anticipation of my furever home.

Je remue maintenant la queue dans l'attente de mon futur foyer.

They have just been sprung from doggy jail (meaning they’ve been rescued from a kill shelter in North Carolina) and are making their way to us. They will be arriving in Riverview on Thursday evening. We need to have foster homes lined up for each of them by then - even better would be a home that could become their forever home! All dogs are spayed/neutered (as appropriate), are heartworm negative, and have all necessary vaccines. Their bios are listed below. I’ve included the foster and adoption applications here. Dallas has a big personality like her namesake state. She is a bit energetic and would make a great jogging or walking partner.

Dillan is a playful puppy although nearly a year old now. He is calm and sweet and can be a bit shy at times.

Coco likes to have fun with other dogs and will contort herself into the most interesting poses trying to initiate play. She’s very agile and will dance for her supper and find her way onto your lap. This little Coco puff is part of the Barker Bunch and loves to hear herself talk so apartment dwelling would not be suitable for her. She is p*e pad trained but will cue you to let her outside to do her business as well. While you are away, she will keep your bed warm, snuggled into your sheets dreaming of you and awaiting your return.
Coco would do well as an only dog or with other social dogs however no feline friends for her.

PLEASE, PLEASE DONATE IF YOU CAN!

Yesterday I heard about two sweet young and really scared girls at a shelter in Quebec who were going to be euthanized, for no reason other than that the shelter is full, and I just could not let that happen. I have been closed for intake for a little while now, needing a well deserved break, but in cases like this, the dogs are just way more important. Thankfully they are safe now and will be on their way to boarding in Ontario soon, and likely I will be making the trip a good portion of the way there in a week or two to get them here.

With little activity here at the rescue, we have very few funds right now, and we will need lots to help these girls get here and get the vetting they need done. We are planning a Holiday Auction with lots of great gift ideas to bid on, asap. We are seeking donations of items/gift certificates/etc that would be suitable as Christmas gifts this time of year. If you have anything to donate that you think would suit this auction, please send us message on the page.

Lucky, a 7-year-old Boston Terrier Mix, is a household name among those who care about animals, and for good reason. He suffers from dry eye, requiring twice-daily medication that costs around $120 per month. Lucky's Holiday wish is to find a permanent home where he will be cared for lovingly. Fortunately, Coverdale Vet Hospital has partnered with Lucky and is offering him four free eye exams, including a tear test to measure tear production. Additionally, they are providing Lucky with a year's supply of his current medication, cyclosporine Ophthalmic 1% in oil, and Optixcare eye l**e. We're grateful for the support Lucky has received in his search for a loving home.

I'M ADOPTED!!

Hello Angels, my name is Tank. I am a doodle mix boy, 22 weeks old and approximately 30lbs, although I'm likely not done growing. I was surrendered to a vet because I was very sick. The vet reached out to my rescuers and they agreed to take me on. I was diagnosed with giardia but I'm now cleared to start the search for my forever family.

On average, it takes 100 likes and 100 shares for a dog to find a home! Please share my story so my forever family will find me!

I am a very smart boy. I have already learned sit, wait, paw, and lay down. I am still learning potty and I do still have some potty accidents but mostly I'm good and will use a p*e pad as a backup.

I love to go on walks and I especially love water. I can't wait until warmer weather to really get into the lake. I even try to get in the shower with my humans but they don't like it. I still try everytime.

I don't live with any other dogs currently but I have lots of doggy friends in our neighborhood who I love to play with. I sometimes forget my size and can play a little rough so really small dogs may not be ideal. I do live with a kitten that arrived after I did and we are the best of friends. We play and cuddle together all the time.

I am still a puppy so I have some energy to spare. I need at least a couple walks a day. Another canine sibling who loves to play would be awesome to help me burn some of that energy and I really love to play. Otherwise, I have a lot of pent up energy and can become over excited and naughty which usually leads to things getting chewed up. I am also still learning not to be mouthy. For this reason I may not be best suited to smaller children. We practice positive reinforcement in my foster home because I don't like being told no.

I sleep in my own bed at nights but wouldn't object to sleeping with you. I do not like crates but I am pretty good home alone for a few hours by myself, as long as I get some of my energy dispersed before you leave me. I am too young to be neutered so that will be the responsibility of my new family.

My ideal family would be active and have lots of space to run off my puppy energy and hopefully have a canine sibling or 2 for me to play with. I am still learning how to be the best me that I can be so a family with time and patience would be right up my alley.
