It's essential that every puppy learns to enjoy being handled, especially on the parts of the body that turn into common bite triggers. Early puppyhood handling and socialization is easy to do and makes a huge difference in a dog's temperament and quality of life, for the rest of their life!

We’ve been quiet a while, we know. That’s only because some BIG things have been going on.

During his short career, Nelson had quickly become a huge part of Jake’s family and it’s obvious the vicious criminal catcher had taken up with Jake’s daughter, too. After we lost Jake, Mayor Stapleton, Chief Woods, Deputy Chief Shurtleff and the ENTIRE department made it our mission to ensure that Paisley wasn’t going to lose her bestest boy Nelson, too. But doing things right and transparently takes time.

At this Monday’s regularly scheduled Council Meeting, Mayor Stapleton entertained a motion from the City Council to declare Nelson surplus property and reunite him to his fur-ever home. Council Member Kaye Willis made the motion promptly and it passed unanimously. As I write this post, my heart swells recalling the squeal Paisley let out as Sgt. Bingham pulled in to bring him back home where he’s been gone from since the night of June 30th - and Nelson didn’t hide his enthusiasm either. He knew he was exactly where he was supposed to be. and Paisley had a basket of toys waiting for him that he would have had to work for before.

We’ve been asked more about Paisley and Nelson than anything else. We hope he enjoys retirement with his equally as hyper sister! ❤️
