I have a rescue dog, Teddy, who was confined to a breeding facility until he was 3 years old and had never been outside in a yard, never in a house with a family, and had never had the opportunity to run and play with other dogs. With Dr. Payne's guidance, he has learned how to run and play with other dogs, and he is becoming quite brave and confident in exploring different rooms in my house. He is very comfortable in his backyard, with his special spot on the deck where he has a panoramic view. Meet Marvelous Max! 🐶 He is a 9-month-old pup with an abundance of enthusiasm for outdoor adventures, like long walks on the trail, a weekend hike, or just playing a game of fetch in the yard. He's still learning some puppy manners (after all, he's just a pup!), but is very respectful to fellow dogs and humans he passes on the trails. In fact, he loves other dogs and would do well in a home with another canine friend! 🐕🐾

Tater, now adorably named Potato Salad, has really blossomed since she was with us in 2019. Check out this adorable 'Happy Tails' story we just received from her owner! 🥹

"I adopted my cat Tater (previously Potato Salad) in April of 2019 through the Fort Collins Cat Rescue branch after coming week after week to play with and hang out with the cats there. She was the only cat that wouldn’t really approach the bars for attention and I could tell she was really nervous with people, but she let me pet her anyways and even made biscuits on my hands. That was when I fell in love with her and knew she was the cat for me so I promptly scooped her up and began the long journey of breaking her out of her shell.

It took years of slow trust building and lots of trial and error but she’s become the most amazing cat with such a big personality. You’d never think a cat that cowered from people and hid all the time would be such a character but she’s so sassy and cuddly and playful and both me and my fiancé couldn’t imagine life without her." 💛🐱

Wow! We are thrilled to announce that we have raised over $222,000 for our Saving Pets Challenge: 18 Years of Love- going over our goal of raising $175,000. 🥳 Thank you so much for going on this journey with us as we celebrated by featuring stories about cats and dogs adopted through our 18 years of saving animals! We're beyond grateful for your support of our mission and dedication to helping us make a difference in the lives of animals who deserve a second chance. 🐾

This precious pooch is Perrine! 😍 She is a one-year-old retriever mix with so much love to give! Perrine is a rockstar during our dog play groups and recently had this comment left by our staff after getting her zoomies out: "Perrine is so perfect, sweet, and good meeting other dogs. She's friendly and forward but respectful- everyone loves her!" 🥹 She's a medium-sized pup packed with energy and playfulness. She would do best in a home with older kiddos since she's so bouncy and wiggly. Perrine would make an excellent walking, hiking, or camping partner- she's ready to go on any adventure. “I was a volunteer at Animal Friends Alliance cat shelter. While preparing dinner for all the kitties, I noticed this gorgeous orange long-haired cat poking its head out of its cat cube bed in one of the colony rooms. When I went in to feed her dinner, she struggled & wobbled to get out of her bed. I then noticed she was missing a front leg & her whole body was shaved. She had to have her leg amputated from falling out of a 3-story window in her previous home. I knew I had to take her home.”

" Now, her hair has fully grown back (a full-on lioness! 🦁) and we re-named her Nadine. She is much more confident on her 3 legs and will sprint around our house. She also LOVES playing with a laser pointer. She gets along great with our other cat, Oscar, and is such a cuddle-bug when her zoomies are out. She’ll greet us with small little chirps, lick our faces, and make biscuits with her one paw. Nadine has been such a joy in our home & we’re so grateful to have her!” ❤️🏡

Say hello to this fabulous feline, Mitteny Houston! 😻 She is a beautiful senior gal at twelve years old, but don't let her age fool you; she's as spunky as ever. Mittney is truly purrrfect cat, but she prefers pets and attention on her own terms. Today is the day! Saving Pets Challenge 2024 has begun, and we are ready to take you on a throwback adventure celebrating the many years of saving animals and the love they've given. Each week, we'll feature Alliance Alumni from our 18 years of providing second chances to animals in need. ❤️ Our Executive Director, Sarah, is kicking off our 'happy tails' with a story about her cat, Timo, who was adopted back in 2006! This precious pup is Penguin, and he needs our help! Penguin is a two-month-old pittie mix born with a congenital malformation of his front limbs, but his bright spirit continues to shine. ✨ We were able to perform radiographs to ensure his organs were functioning and growing with no issues. Penguin has a long journey ahead while we work out the best outcome for him. 😔 Our shelter vet team has noticed one of his front limbs has limited mobility, and the other has no mobility and often gets in his way. We will observe his movements to see if he would benefit from an amputation to remove the affected limb. Penguin will need a wheelchair moving forward, and unfortunately, more than one. Since Penguin is still a small pup, he will need new wheels each time he outgrows his old one. It is crucial he starts using a wheelchair soon so he can adapt to them as he grows. 🎉 We did it! Thanks to your incredible support, we exceeded our May membership drive goal for the Animal Advocate Club! We aimed to recruit 50 new or upgraded members, and with your help, we welcomed 63 amazing supporters who either joined or upgraded their memberships in our recurring donor program. For 105 days, Torchy has waited so patiently to meet his human, and thanks to a generous supporter, Torchy's adoption fee has been sponsored! He's really come out of his shell since being with us here at the Alliance and finds comfort in other dog friends. Torchy would LOVE a new canine sibling to play with! Penelope recently made her way to the Alliance after a very traumatic past. This sweet pup was found in an irrigation ditch in Greeley. 🥺 After many failed attempts, she was finally trapped and brought to our shelter. Penelope was skin and bones, terrified, and didn't have a microchip. When her stray hold was up, she was spayed and has been staying with our Executive Director, Sarah, while she recovers and learns to trust again. Penelope will be with us for quite some time and will receive additional support from our Canine Behavior Veterinarian, Dr. Amanda Payne.
