Virtual Pet Care Series 2024
The CVMF with conjunction with the CVMA presents a FREE Virtual Pet Care Series

These 20 minute Zoom events will be held at 7:00pm on a Thursday of every month. These events will present basic pet care information and is free to everyone.
Each event will begin with a 15-20 minute presentation on the evenings topic then be followed by a 5-10 minute Q & A session. We do ask that all questions be limited to only the evenings topic.

These events are FREE but registering is highly encouraged.

Introduction to Pet Pig Care and Behavior
June 20th from 7:00-7:30PM
Pigs are smart and interesting animals. Many people choose to have them as pets, either outdoors or in their homes. I have heard them described as “just like dogs, but with no desire to please you whatsoever.” That is fairly accurate, but there is more. We will touch on their basic medical needs, common problems, nutrition, and some basics of behavior, to either improve your current relationship with your pig, or to guide you before deciding to keep a pig as a pet.


Dr Dennis Thibeault received his BS in Biology from Fairfield University and his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Michigan State University in 1994. He started Green Valley Veterinary Services in Mansfield CT in 2008. He and his team provide mobile veterinary care for farm animals throughout Eastern CT and most of Rhode Island. Their primary focus is pet and hobby livestock, and also do home euthanasia for dogs and cats. Dr Thibeault is also certified in Technical Large Animal Emergency Rescue.
These events are FREE but registering is highly encouraged.

The Green Valley team would like to introduce one of our veterinary assistants, Rylee! Rylee was born and raised in Tolland, CT. Since she was little she has had a passion for helping and caring for animals. She is actively involved in 4H including a number of leadership roles. She has also shown alpacas as part of 4H. She is currently finishing high school and in her free time she trains in karate and paints.

In May of 2023 she graduated from the University of Rhode Island with a degree in Animal Science. She has previous experience working with small animals and joined the Green Valley team this Fall to learn more about large animal medicine!

The Green Valley team would like to introduce one of our veterinary assistants, Kelsey! Kelsey was born and raised in Alabama. She grew up working cows with her dad and this sparked her love for animals. She now currently resides in CT and attends the University of Connecticut. For the past couple of years, Kelsey has devoted her time to serving our country in the United States Coast Guard. She has been a part of the Green Valley team since the summer of 2023!

We see so many obese pigs. It is sad for the pig, the owner and us as care providers when they can't see and then when they have to get euthanized prematurely because they can't walk anymore. They will lie to you and tell you that they are starving. You can respond with a low calorie snack such as cucumber or green beans.

This girl was born with no outer ear opening on one side. This allowed for an infection to be trapped inside. We anesthetized her and got out the infection. She's on antibiotics now.
