We need a Christmas miracle. A member of the Philly Rescue Angels team tragically lost her sister unexpectedly last night. She left behind two dogs that are in immediate need of a foster or permanent home. The ideal home would have no other dogs to allow these poor babes to adjust smoothly. We currently are only looking for a long-term Foster or permanent home, not short term, since they have already been through a lot after losing their owner suddenly. Ace is a 9 year old male and Mia is a 7 year old female. We believe they are up-to-date on their vetting but will cover anything they need. They are rescues that were abandoned at a local vet office several years ago. Their owner took them in and dedicated her entire life to them. Unfortunately, no one in her family has the ability to take them. They are good with people and have also done well with the older children. They were even sweet and submissive to the EMTs that rushed to the scene last night. All they want is love and comfort. They are good with other dogs and have never had an issue. However, due to them being bonded and going through a difficult time, we do think it would be best to have no other pets in the home if possible, or at least being able to separate from resident pets at first to allow them to decompress. They have never been tested with cats or tiny children.

If you can’t help, let’s help this post reach far and wide. They are currently located in Delco, PA being cared for at the late family members house. If you are able to Foster or Adopt, please fill out an application and then send us a message to let us know.

Union township shelter. Union, NJ.

Just a reminder. The Union Shelter is now full. If you loose your pup and is picked up by the on call service it will have to be detained at a shelter that has room.

Please keep an eye on your pups and cats. It’s a busy time but you need to know where they are at.

Looking for a forever home. No animal should be a Christmas gift without making sure they’re wanted and willing to make a commitment to them.

Super urgent!! FL, Orlando “Nicholas” sweety with no eyes

Meet Nicholas, a young 4 year old dog who has been back and forth to the shelter of not just one but two times 🥺

He was adopted awhile ago from Orange County Animal Services but then Marion County would later notify the shelter that Nicholas was found as a stray.

But since he was struggling to get seen at that shelter, they took him back. Since then he had to get his eyes removed due to medical complications & has been in foster care while he was in recovery. During that time he has been learning to be a dog again. But now he’s back at the shelter & was just called ugly by a potential adopter. You can tell it has broken his heart. Besties he’s just a 4 year old dog who just wants to be loved. From what I seen, he’s friendly with other dogs. He just needs someone willing to give him the chance to take him in and provide him a warm loving home for the holidays. Together let’s make it happen as he shouldn’t be in a cold dark kennel. You know what to do.

BLIND PUP NEEDS A HOME IMMEDIATELY!!!

No matter how many times we see it, we are always amazed by the resilience and courage of dogs.

This is Nicholas - ID. . He is four years old, and has been in and out of not just one, but two shelters in his short life. He was originally adopted from our shelter, but years later, we received a call from our friends at Marion County Animal Services about a dog they had found as a stray with our microchip. So of course we took him back.

Nicholas had both his eyes surgically removed recently, due to some medical complications. And he’s just learning how to be a dog again.

He spent some time in foster care, and amazingly, his foster told us Nicholas is great with other dogs, kids, and even cats. He is gentle, sweet, and when he’s happy, he howls.

Nicholas will need time and patience, but we can tell he’s a fast learner. He’s already walking better on a leash, and has been able to figure out the dimensions of his kennel. But his favorite thing to do is be outside, on a lake walk, taking in all the smells, and napping on a sunny spot in the grass.

We know adopting finding Nicholas a good home won’t be easy. He’s going to need a lot of patience, training and time. But we also know there is someone out there for him. Someone that won’t be deterred by Nicholas’ special needs. Someone who will make his sweet heart sing with happiness and howl every day. We just need to reach them.

Let’s get him seen.
Let’s get him home.

With the holidays and cold weather please be aware where your pets are. Check that doors are closed, holes in fences and gates closed.

Can’t stress enough to get them chipped and registered. Shelters are full and if you want to spare your pet extra stress and save some money then please invest in microchipping your pet. Tags are good but can fall off or be removed.

🚨 "GLADYS. FACING DEATH ON WEDNESDAY AT POLK COUNTY ANIMAL CONTROL IN GEORGIA.This female senior German Shepherd named Gladys needs out immediately. She's missing hair and is super thin. She's overwhelmed here at the shelter, but this environment is tough especially right now because we are 100% FULL. Tough decisions have to be made for space and I can 100% promise you that they will decide to euthanize an old scared dog with medical issues before they do a more adoptable dog. It's sad but true. Someone has failed her and now she's about to lose her life for it.”

Gladys is one out of thousands who at no fault of their own, die because they are old, sick, or just overlooked. 🐾❤️

Gladys is alive because the shelter staff were united in their fight to save her. They joined forces with as many different groups and individuals as they could and like a relay race one person handed the life-saving baton to the next until she reached us and we knew we had to do something. 🤝

If you ever wonder if donations really do make a difference Gladys is a prime example of what contributions can do. We are only able to say yes to dogs like her because of our community of donors.

Glady is living her best life now surrounded by love, respect, and comfort, and she finally knows what it's like to be part of a family. 🐶💖

Urgent Out of Space: 100 New "Underdogs" in 48 Hours—This isn't how we wanted to conclude Giving Tuesday, but this is our reality and we have to share it with you to save lives. In the past 48 hours, 100 new animals have entered BARCS. A majority of which are large adult dogs. All of them walked through our doors, seeing a room full of unfamiliar faces and smelling scents they’ve never encountered. They didn’t know why they were here, why they were placed in a kennel—likely their first ever. They’re scared, confused and overwhelmed. They don’t know what comes next.

But we do.

It’s our job to show them that BARCS isn’t their last stop. Our staff and volunteers are working tirelessly to make sure they are safe, cared for and ultimately find a positive outcome. We’ve been “playing Tetris” with every inch of our kennel and office space just to give them a chance. But the reality is, we are out of space—and we can’t do it alone.

Today’s Giving Tuesday theme was “underdogs”—the animals who need extra medical care, are overlooked, or take longer to adopt. It’s also about us. Back in 2015, a Baltimore Sun article called BARCS the ultimate underdogs for taking on more than seemed possible with limited funding and staff. We wore that title like a badge of honor.

We still do.

Even in this crisis, we’re beating the odds and working our tails off. But right now, we need our community’s help to keep going.

Here’s how you can help tonight and tomorrow:

🐾 Donate: With 100 new mouths to feed and many requiring urgent medical attention, the costs are already mounting and will quickly become overwhelming. Every dollar given is matched and helps us provide the care they need.

🐾 Foster: We urgently need fosters for large adult dogs. Stop by, meet our team, and find out how you can be a lifeline.

🐾 Adopt: Our fees will be waived from Wednesday, 12/4 through the end of the month. Each adoption includes a microchip, spay/neuter and up-to-date vaccines.

(All links in the comments)

BARCS may be the ultimate underdog. But with your support, we’ll rise to this challenge—because these animals are counting on us, and we’re counting on you.

I tried to help somebody the other day who would rather give away the kittens for free to her friends then let me pay to fix them and then adopt them out. Because she doesn’t think that our $200 adoption fee should be paid. Even though we would fix, microchip, combo test, vaccinate, flea treat, and deworm, she thinks it’s too expensive. 🤯

She also thought it was too expensive when I offered to do all of that for only $90 to her friend that she committed to giving one of the kittens away to if she let me take care of the mom and the rest of the kittens. Because she didn’t want to ask her friend to pay $90. 🤦🏽‍♀️🙄

She refused. Said we did not see eye to eye and she’s giving the kittens away for free unaltered and unvaccinated because her kittens are “rescue kittens” (wow. Not sure what I have then) 🤔

….yeah we clearly don’t see eye to eye about overpopulation and what causes it. 😒

This is why overpopulation exists. Giving away free, unaltered kittens. I hope these two people don’t mind because I totally stole what they wrote (pics) but then again they wrote it in a public place so I think it might be OK to do this, but I saw these two people comment on a post at Onalaska Farm Sanctuary about how much, either they spent or somebody they knew spent to fix an animal.

I wish this person who refused to let me take the mom and kits so she wasn’t financially responsible for anything and fix and get them would see this and I was half tempted to text it to her. 🤦🏽‍♀️

I wish we had good lobbysoats. Charge everyone a portion of taxes to fund low cost spay and neuter clinics everywhere. There’s a serious problem and it’s getting worse every year. 😔

Hey there, everyone!

My best friend Tracy Reinert has dedicated her life to cat rescue for many years. When her colony was threatened with losing their home, Tracy was able to retrap her colony cats and built an enclosure for them where she goes and takes care of them daily, feeding, cleaning, etc.

The kitties are inside and safe, lounge in cat beds, cubbies, cat trees and love to sunbathe in the windows.

As you would imagine, the expenses add up very quickly for their care such as food, cat litter, and veterinary treatment whenever a cat gets sick.

Please help her continue to care for these displaced feral kitties who are enjoying their retirement from the streets very much, by donating to her Amazon wishlist. ❤️❤️❤️

Another tone-deaf quote from Montco SPCA’s Operations Manager, Ed Davies. He told the reporter from the Philadelphia Inquirer that Montco SPCA doesn’t need adoption or foster programs, simply because the organization has been around so long and people just know about them. FALSE! We know for a fact that many local people don’t even realize that the Montco SPCA is right across the street from the Giant Shopping Center on Ridge Pike.

Also, adoption and foster programs could help Montco reduce its current euthanasia rate of 20%. So, why doesn’t Montco have a foster program? We’re told that Ed Davies says that it would be too much work.

These lazy, close-minded managers need to leave! Contact Ed Davies and his boss, the interim executive director, to tell them that they all need to resign and let people that care about adoption and foster programs take over.

We need to do better people!
😭🙏💔 🙏😭
We got a call from a nearby resident about this young coyote pup in distress.
We arrived in just minutes to find a lifeless, ice cold, and barely conscious baby coyote pup, suffering from severe mange, partially healed burns on his feet from fleeing the recent fires & loaded with intestinal parasites.
He was clearly already suffering when the fires hit, compromised from parasites, burning his paw pads to escape the fire, lost his pack and finally found refuge, alone, in a nearby neighborhood. Finally safe? No. Unfortunately, he also found some easy to catch mice, mice that you poisoned with mouse poison in your houses, basements & garages! We worked through the night trying to bring life back into this lifeless baby's body. Hoping we could make a miracle happen. But despite all we did to save him, his little body had no more strength left, he just couldn't fight anymore.
He survived so much only to be taken out by human ignorance. It's gut wrenching
We're heartbroken 💔
We tried so hard to right the wrongs and give him another chance at life.

PLEASE 🙏 FFS 🙏 PLEASE
✋️✋️🛑JUST STOP 🛑✋️✋️
Stop using Rodenticide poisons. There are other effective options. You aren't just killing mice, you're killing other innocent animals like this one, foxes, bobcats, owls and other mammals and raptors.
It's hard enough to survive out there! Please stop poisoning their food!!
