Enrichment! What to do with your dog when it’s 100 degrees outside? Mental games! Food dispensing toys, snuffle mat, etc. Get those brains working! Scent games are great fun too, and will be another post.
Dogs need physical and mental stimulation to be happy and content. These toys here are great for adding mental stim/enrichment to your dogs’ day. You can add high value treats, or their kibble.
Emergency recall
Here’s how we start emergency recall, day 1! This little guy is learning a very important command, “Here”! If your dog isn’t coming to you, you should be coming to us!

Our amazing trainer David putting in some work today! 🤩🤩
We put a lot of value in dogs learning how to rest and relax on a cot (and without, but especially those early learning stages, the cot helps a lot!)
Meet Miller! Day 1 square 1 stuff, introducing clicker + treats.
SPIN!
The next trick video is SPIN! This is a really fun and easy one! Pick a direction (clockwise or counter...) and stick with it for the “Spin” command to make sense - meaning, don’t try the first few one way, and then use the same cue but try to get them to spin the other way.
Here’s Toilet doing the spin command for the very first time. Also did a little bit of the Back Up which she’s also never done, just to show it with a different dog.
Feel free to post videos of you guys working through these! I love to see them! Or if you’re shy, send them to me privately! ⭐️🐶💙
Teach the Back Up
Alright you guys, I HATE doing videos of myself, so this is me getting over that fear! I will be doing videos every day/every couple days, of different tricks you can work your dogs on during this quarantine/shut down period. These can be used for various titles if you so choose! I am an AKC Evaluator for CGC’s, Trick Titles, etc...so I am happy to assist with the AKC Trick Dog Titles (I will Post a link to this in the comments!) There is also Do More With Your Dog Trick Dog Titles.
Today’s Trick is BACK UP! This is where your dog will walk straight back away from you. Have a bunch of small treats, a clicker/reward marker and a DOG! It is helpful as well if you have access to a long hallway, or set up chairs, a table, etc to create a chute to prevent your dog from spinning as they learn this.
Don’t be shy! Send me videos of you guys working through this one with your dogs!
Have fun and stay safe!
This is Roux, and this lil cutie is learning some manners! Today was his very first lesson, a Walk & Train session, and here he is showing off his new door manners. All walks start calmly leaving the house on a loose leash. More videos to come of his leash walking!
So happy to have you be part of the Star Dog family little dude! ⭐️🐶💙
Walk and Train “Cadi” learning how to walk on a loose leash, around Tango (and other distractions) She is known to pull and be reactive. This is our first Walk & Train session.
Good dog Cadi girl! 💗
Eika says, Good Monday morning everyone. She has been with us a week now and in training as a working dog (to find guns and ammo) for the detection side of our business. We are currently working on bond, building drive and handler/toy engagement. She has much environmental and obedience training to do and we plan to post many videos for you all along her journey 😁.
For anyone looking for amazingly stable German Shepherd puppies, contact Jill Doherty of Von Der Tetiaroa shepherds. We picked Eika up at 8 weeks old already potty trained and confident enough to face everything. It's amazing dealing with a breeder who puts her whole heart into every litter.

Let's talk exercise! We firmly believe that exercise is a vital part to the mental health of our dogs. Even with a large yard, our dogs are trained to use a treadmill. Brodie here has 10 acres and 2 ponds to play in, yet still loves treadmill time. Treadmills are an excellent way to exercise your dog. This is the Dog Pacer, but any treadmill for people works just as well!
Quick training session with DoberDork Gronk! I love this boy. He's so much fun! He's learning house manners and general obedience.
Fun little session with Stella! Love this girl! Basic obedience training student. This is our second session. Don't mind the socks. 😆
