H3R Dog Rescue Dallas-Fort Worth dog rescue committed to rescuing, rehabilitation, and placing herding breed dogs. A We plan to match every dog with their forever family.

Heeler Houla House Rescue (H3R) started when a small group of rescuers began working together in 2011. Its' mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, and place Australian Cattle Dogs (Heelers), Catahoula Leopard Dogs, and herding breeds in loving homes, although we do accept other breeds as well. H3R works to promote rescuing pets as a healthy and compassionate alternative to supporting the breeding ind

ustry, as well as awareness of spaying and neutering as a effective means to fight the current problem of overpopulation and homeless companion animals. H3R is a foster-based rescue, where animals will be vaccinated, treated for any illnesses, socialized, trained, spayed/neutered, and prepared for their new lives as beloved family members. All applicants will have an extensive application, home checks, and vet references. H3R's formation date is 6/3/2013 and official status of Non-Profit was granted 10/21/2013.

Email we received and wanted to see if any of our followers would be able to help this handsome man!

Good Evening,

I am a volunteer with my local city pound, City of Jasper TX Animal Shelter. We are in Jasper, TX - a small rural shelter, with just nine kennels. And, just like everyone else, we are over-capacity! We need help to save them all. Sadly, we are so over our limit, we had to place Martin on Code Red! The deadline for him to be out of the shelter is Friday, 4.26.24 by 12pm. We are also trying to find foster placement until he can leave for when he's tagged hopefully.

MARTIN CURRENTLY HAS $200 IN PLEDGES!

Here is Martin's bio/info:
Poor Martin was abandoned at Martin Dies State Park. Left all alone and confused. A Park Ranger called to ask if they could bring him in. He seems to be loving, friendly and sassy! One thing for sure is that he is a looker - very handsome! Martin would likely do best in an active home due to the fact that he's a Cattledog mix. That's a working dog breed and they need to stay busy/active or have a job to do. A nice farm would be great.
🐾S*x: Male
Age: 1.5 Years
Weight: 50 Pounds

Transportation (for rescue groups only) can be provided or we can meet halfway. Cat test videos can be sent upon request. All pups are current on DHPP. We will do a heartworm test if the dog(s) are old enough. They are dewormed and given flea & heartworm preventatives. Medical records are available upon request.

If you have any questions or would like additional information regarding Martin, please contact Dodie Martindale or Alyssa O'Donnal at City of Jasper TX Animal Shelter at (409) 383-2220. They will be happy to help!

Sincerely,
Rhonda Girard

We received an email from Kalene looking for help placing reggie but we are unable to help with no foster home open at this time. Please share with anyone who has the ability to help him live his best life and continue to get the help he needs and a new loving forever home. Please keep the comment section less cluttered and Kalene’s email to contact her will be posted there.

Hi there - I am reaching out because we are looking to rehome our 3.5 year old Aussie, Reggie. We have been working on this for several months now, and we are heartbroken and struggling to find anywhere that will take him. Reggie is a 3.5 year old blue merle, weighs 48 pounds, and is neutered. He has always been a skittish, shy little boy, but we also happened to get him a week before the pandemic and everything shut down, so we weren’t able to expose him to things the way we were hoping to. He is a little wary around strangers initially, moreso males, but once he feels comfortable he is very sweet. He has snapped at two kids in the past and is generally very anxious around them, and we are finally ready to start a family so I don’t think keeping Reggie will be an option with a newborn and their unpredictability 😞 We have done a board and train program and also worked with a behaviorist, so he is a great listener and learns quickly, but he is so easily spooked by sudden movements that we just don’t feel like we can trust him when a baby is in the home. He has also gotten along well with female dogs in the past, so we got a female puppy two months ago hoping that he would enjoy having a permanent friend, but he has attacked her a few times already, so I am now concerned about her safety and learning undesirable behaviors from him. I’m not sure if you are accepting dogs right now, but I would be extremely grateful for any help you might be able to provide. Thank you so much.

We have received an email from someone looking to rehome their super cute Clover girl. Information we have been provided via email is below if you are interested in adopting, fostering, funding, etc. please private message us for Clover’s mom, Rachael, contact information (phone number and/or email).

“We have a hard decision as a family, but because of two heelers being aggressive with each other, we are hoping to find a loving home for Clover. She is a year old Texas Heeler, super smart, very loving, and insanely loyal to her human. She has lived with us for about 6 months when her original dog dad was deployed to the border and we took her in. She honestly is one of the smartest dogs I have ever met. She is house-broken, loves to play fetch, and snuggles like a baby. She needs a loving home with lots of room to explore but where she is the only furbaby. I sm desperate to find a solution.

Clover is up to date on vaccinations and she is spayed. The fighting is as much my blue heelers fault as Clovers but they hate each other. I think it's jealousy. We have tried muzzles but they still fight. We now are keeping them separated just to avoid conflict. Clover is just not one to back down and neither is the blue heeler. I would not trust her with smaller dogs unsupervised.

Clover stays outside without issue with our St. Bernard, and she is a loving dog to us. She loves playing fetch, protects our home from all birds and squirrels, is extremely athletic, and very smart. She is house broken as well. She is a great dog and we would love to keep her, but I cannot bear something happening to her or my blue heeler. She would be the best dog for the right person.

We do not live very close to trainers but we have tried to reach out to a behaviorist. We found a residency program but the cost of the 4 week program was way outside our budget.

We can continue with her living outside until a suitable home is found. We have a wireless fence that keeps her within a confined area of our backyard.

We are in Sweetwater, TX but we would be happy to meet good people. I travel across the state so I can be flexible.”

Our friends at Conway Animal Welfare in Conway, Arkansas have reached out in hopes all of of our Catahoula loving friends would be interested in helping this sweet girl Pinta!

Pinta is a beautiful spayed female estimated around 2 years old. She’s unfortunately been in the shelter for 4 months now! How can that be!? She is super sweet and very energetic. She does seem to favor women more so than men at this time, but has done well with most that come to visit her. She is heartworm positive and will need treatment, however she is NOT showing any signs so hopefully it’s a light positive for an easy and short treatment. Pinta’s favorite toy is a tennis ball and she loves to give hugs!

If you can help her please contact Britney at 501-450-6160 or [email protected]

My name is Joaquin and I’m a pretty unusual breed around these parts. Ever heard of a Catahoula Leopard dog. Well now you have and you have found a diamond in the rough with me. I’m young, eager to learn and sweet as a praline from Louisiana (Catahoula’s are the state dog).

I was running a local Tulsa neighborhood. The humans that spotted me brought me home, posted signs, posted on something called Facebook and took me to the vet. I was deemed to be healthy after they poked around on me, shot me in the neck with stuff and wormed me (yuk). No chip but I wasn’t sure if that meant Fritos or Lays. I’ll need to get a neuter soon. I think that sounds like fun.

I am a very good jumper. I love to play and like dog friends. I would love a big yard and humans that will snuggle with me. Pretty simple guy. I’m sure you can look into my beautiful blue eyes and tell that I’m a very good boy. Call my humans, Jeremy or Carol to meet up with me. You will fall in love🐾.
Love,
Joaquin

Moses is still looking for his forever home! We’ve had him since he was a pup with his liter 3 years ago. There’s nothing wrong with him it’s just that he is an adult black dog whose chances are slimmer than a pretty blue eyed girl with long hair kind of type situation. Moses is very kind and sweet and just wants a home of his own.

Press Release: Denton County Public Health Confirms Rabies in Dog West of Krum

December 16, 2021 – Denton County Public Health (DCPH), in partnership with Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) and Denton County Sheriff’s Office, have confirmed rabies in one puppy from a litter west of Krum, near the intersection of Plainview Road and Knox Road.

At this time, DCPH does not believe there is ongoing risk, but prior exposure is important. Area residents with potential exposure to any of the puppies from this litter between November 19th and December 7th are being notified via emergency alert phone notifications. Individuals who were potentially exposed are encouraged to contact DCPH immediately at 940-349-2909 to speak with an epidemiology investigator.

“Rabies is a rare disease in domestic pets, but if contracted, almost always a fatal condition in humans,” stated Dr. Matt Richardson, DCPH Director. “We want to know if anyone was exposed to these puppies between these dates so they can begin a rabies vaccination series immediately.”

Dr. Marty Buchanan, Denton County Health Authority, confirms the potential risk and need for prevention, saying, “It’s important to understand the clinical risk of even exposure to saliva from infected animals. You don’t need to be bitten--merely an exposure to fluids from these animals could be very dangerous. Rabies vaccine is effective in preventing people from getting rabies.”

Exposure could include a puppy nipping, biting, or licking an individual. Postexposure prophylaxis, via vaccine and possible human rabies immune globulin (HRIG), is recommended for those with exposure to these puppies.

Per the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), rabies is a preventable viral disease transmitted through the bite or scratch of a rabid animal. Rabies infects the central nervous system, and without prompt postexposure prophylaxis, rabies is fatal.

DCPH advises individuals to take the following steps to minimize risk of contracting rabies:
• Leave all wildlife and unknown animals alone.
• If you are bitten, scratched, or unsure, talk to your healthcare provider about whether you need postexposure prophylaxis. Rabies in people is 100% preventable through prompt appropriate medical care.
• Vaccinate your pets and visit your veterinarian regularly to protect your pets and family.

Additional information on rabies, postexposure prophylaxis, and prevention can be found at CDC.gov/rabies/. Information on rabies cases and statistics in Texas can be found at DSHS.texas.gov/idcu/disease/rabies/. Information about Texas rabies vaccination requirements can be found at DSHS.texas.gov/idcu/disease/rabies/vaccine/pets/.
