Winnie had her puppies on 8/20/24! Here is Winnie & her 7 puppies! They could only see 6 at the vet, we got a bonus puppy. We have 4 boys and 3 girls. Winnie is doing great and being a wonderful mom. We can always use sheets, blankets and towels for the dogs, you can drop off with us during the week at the office or one of our events or we may be able to pick up just let us know. 🖤 we always accept collars, leashes, toys, bedding, bowls kennels and food as well. We pass these items along to our fosters and adopters.

The one story we’re all tired of hearing. “I found this dog two months ago and now I’m moving in a couple days and can’t take him. If we can’t find him some place to go, we’re going to let him go or euthanize him.” He’s currently at a vets office to be euthanized, and the vets office is trying to prevent that from happening. So a foster is needed asap. He’s 94lbs, heartworm positive, cropped ears, neutered, friendly with other dogs. He Is chipped, but the info in the chip is old and no one can be reached. If you want to adopt or foster, let us know as soon as possible.

Visited little miss no name at the vet today. The doctors said they will have to amputate her leg. It’s too damaged to repair and just dangling. It happened more than a few days ago. They want her to gain some weight and then she will have her surgery on Tuesday. She will be on antibiotics and pain meds until then. She is comfortable, has a nice bed that was donated to us and is lucky to be in the ac without fleas and ticks anymore. She’s a sweet girl and will do just fine with three legs. She’s going to be spayed at the same time, vets recommendation. She is also heartworm negative which is great news! She is still available for a foster home to take her in. We are going to work on a good name for her. Let us know if you want to foster, donate supplies for her or donate to her surgery. Her vetting is going to be about $1500. Warning: this may be graphic for some of you. This dog was reportedly hit by a car a few days ago.. she has been living at this mans property. He said she belonged to the neighbors and he’s been feeding her. She’s incredibly emaciated and has exposed bones coming out of her foot. She will be going to our vet first thing in the morning; Callaghan Road Animal Hospital. We’ll post an update once the doctor has seen her and decided what can be done for her foot. She has received pain medicine and is resting comfortably for the night. There are about ten other dogs on the property as well. The man is going through hard times and needs help. He can’t afford to get them fixed and two of them are pregnant. He also has a special needs daughter that is very mean to them, I witnessed her hit one in the face and he told me she will basically throw them, he says they get after her all the time, but that doesn’t change anything. They are all small scruffy dogs. I am going to get all of them fully vetted and he’s going to let me take in all but two. If I had another small building, I would take them in immediately, but I just don’t right now. We need to find foster homes for them asap. I will be making a separate post for them, I have more photos and video. We need foster volunteers. Please message and let us know if you can foster one or a few. Meet Charro 🧡 He’s a senior boy, around 11 years old, pulled from the Bandera hoarding situation, he was one that was kept inside and he was in horrible shape. He has major skin issues, infections and ear infections we’ve been trying to get cleared up. He’s had to be sedated to have his ears cleaned and treated and the vet is sending off a culture to figure out what kind of bacteria it is since the antibiotics he’s been given haven’t cleared it up. He’s been neutered, vaccinated and had a growth removed from his back. Here is what his foster has to say about him.

Gender: Male
Neutered: Yes
DOB: 6/27/2001
Age: approx 11 years
Coat: short, dark red and white fur
Eyes: gorgeous dark amber
Weight: 44 ish
Ears: Had a yeast infection in both ears upon coming into rescue. We are still working on clearing up the infection in his ears.
Cuteness: Charro dreams on occasion. While dreaming he will do a very cute, very low, long howl while running. I’m sure he’s probably chasing rabbits in his dreams.

Children: either no kids, OR, he would prefer mature children that are respectful of an older dog in the home.
Other dogs: YES, he is very dog friendly and likes the company of other like-energy dogs.
Cats/Squirrels: cats are fine in the home. Still has an urge to chase or bark at cats on walks.
Men: Charro is ALL ABOUT PEOPLE. He loves men and women, seems to like a more mature crowd. He is extremely happy with his people. The trust bond happens quickly and he is easy to introduce to new people. He is food motivated, very willing to approach on his own for pets or to just get in your lap.

Crate trained: YES, Does not need to be kenneled. He does beautifully in the home and is allowed to free roam in the house. He is not mischievous or destructive.
Potty trained: YES, able to free roam the house with no accidents.
Car: Not a fan of car rides, drools, may throw up. Recommend to crate or tether and have towels laid down.

Pet friendly dining/shopping spots: Charro prefers a more intimate setting. He loves the outdoors but more like the park, walking in the neighborhood, or a stroll on the beach/river/lake. He DOES NOT enjoy the hustle and bustle of shopping and restaurants. THAT is not his scene. A pet friendly store or dining would be fine at a very calm quiet time of day. Charro is very dog friendly, but again, prefers a calmer, like-energy dog. He will give boundaries and corrections to hyper or rambunctious doggie friends or companions in the home. He does not take it to the next level and is easily corrected.

Additional info: Foster mom calls him her “boyfriend” because he’s the perfect package. Charro wants to be with you, follow you, and be where you are. He hasn’t played with balls or toys while in his foster home. He loves to NAP. He would like to have a doggie companion, in the home, which can match his energy. Charro is extremely sweet, mellow, like cotton candy. He will lay down in front of you to get pets and a belly rub. He has not shown any type of anxiety except a few hooowwwls when he feels lonely, or doesn’t know where you are. He does calm down, napping on the couch and won’t howl all day. His foster mom works from home one week, and the office the next week. He is absolutely fine in both situations, being in the home. Charro has a very sweet, little old man smile. He is a very well-tempered, mild mannered, GOOD OLE BOY!!!! Charro has never given kisses despite his foster giving him as many kisses she can throughout the day. Charro loves the couch, the bed, the tile floor. He loves to lie outside and sunbathe for a time. He hasn't been interested in water or a kiddie pool. He take meds easily in a spoonful of wet dog food.

🩷 ADOPTED🩷 Meet Josie 🩷 she was living at an abandoned house for quite some time and wouldn’t trust anyone to come too close. Jenna worked for days to gain her trust and eventually trapped her. There was a group effort of dog lovers and rescuers to get this girl off the street and into a safe loving home. She then got cleaned up at Callaghan Road Animal Hospital and into a foster home where she is blossoming. We stepped in to be the rescue backing and finish her vetting, she’ll be getting spayed and microchipped Tuesday. She is so friendly and mellow, she’s doing great with other dogs and cats. She is a gentle,
calm girl, just enjoying the luxuries of being loved and taken care of and feeling the wind in her hair. She’s about 40lbs. She would enjoy having a life with another dog in the house to show her what life is supposed to be like. Thank you to Jenna and Jaylyn, her foster and everyone else who worked together to help get this girl off the streets of San Antonio. She is available for adoption. Applications are on the website. We are expecting! Turns out Miss Winnie is pregnant with six babies! We are expecting them in the next one to two weeks. We are going to have a puppy shower for her at one of our upcoming events, she would greatly appreciate puppy pads, sheets, blankets and puppy toys. 🩷

These cuties are Kal & Nala, two of six adorable mix breed puppies we took in from New Braunfels. Kal is the tan one and Nala is white. They are about 3 months old. They are both social, friendly, happy puppies that like to play with toys and other dogs. They will probably be around 50lbs full frown. This adorable little girl is Snow White, she is the only survivor from her litter of puppies that were saved from the Bandera hoarding case. How can anyone resist those ears!? She is now 3 1/2 months old, born April 22nd. She is a fun spunky little girl. She is going to be spayed this month. We think she may have a hearing issue, we’re going to have her checked at our vet. These two were found in a neighborhood, they’d been wandering around for days. They are not chipped and we haven’t found any owners yet. They need a foster home until they can find their family or be vetted and adopted out. One male, one female, they are both friendly. Let us know if you can foster.

Meet Luna, she was saved minutes before she was to be euthanized at ACS!

Luna is estimated at 1 1/2 years old and searching for her forever family.
She has such an outgoing spirit.

Luna is kennel trained and house trained with a proper schedule. She does great with two female dogs she is being fostered with. She is not a fan of cats. Luna absolutely loves any stuffed or rope toys to play tug and will sit for any kind of treat!

While she’s not super high energy, she’s not lazy either. She loves her play time, and also lovesss her nap time! She may even try to sneak in a cuddle for nap time.
She’s a perfect in between.

These three adoptable and adorable puppies need a foster or furever home! They are from the Bandera hoarding situation. We had a total of 9, we still have 7 for adoption. What are the benefits of being in a foster home vs the rescue? They get to be with a family or person and get more attention and human interaction than they receive being with the rescue. They get familiarized with a normal schedule and environment of being in a furever home. We love them, provide beds, toys, food, water and clean areas but there isn’t much time to play with them and help potty train them. We are basically just their zoo keeper. These pups aren’t as big as they may look in the photos, they’re about 12-15lbs. They’re about to receive their third round of dhpp vaccines. They’ll be spayed/neutered in August. We can provide a kennel or puppy pen, food, puppy pads, toys, etc to foster them. We pay for all of their medical care and any issues that arise. Fosters are also welcome to provide the supplies themselves. It’s up to you. We have adoption events almost every weekend that all of our fosters are welcome to come to or drop their foster dogs off at so they have more opportunities to get adopted. Meet Stacey 🩷 She was staying outside a gas station for days begging for help while people walked passed her all day long for days. She was just laying there defeated when I went up to her, pet her, put a leash on her and said let’s go. She almost didn’t believe I was actually going to take her. She was covered in ticks and smelled horrible. She’s clearly had litter after litter of puppies. After she got to the rescue and was being taken care of, fed, cleaned and loved, her attitude completely changed, she is just the happiest dog now. She is sweet, friendly, good with other dogs and kids, she doesn’t care about the cats, she is well mannered in a kennel and also does great free in the house. She is great on the leash and goes potty as soon as she is taken out. She is heart worm negative, but positive for anaplasmosis from ticks but is being treated with doxycycline. She will be spayed next week. She will come fully vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, spayed and she is on bravecto which is good for three months. She’s at least 5-6 years old. She is a wonderful dog and deserves a great life. She is available for fostering or adoption. 🩷 Complete an application from the website and email it to [email protected]

We’ve been trying to have this dog trapped for months. She was called the cvs dog then she got redumped at some apartments downtown. Terry spent hours setting up different traps for her. We bought a new large pen we thought we could get her into, but she was very smart and evasive. It also didn’t help that all of the people in the apartment complex would interrupt the trapping process and interfere while we were trying to trap her. She got harassed so much she eventually moved out of the parking garage she was living in and across the street under a porch, where Terry and Traci were finally able to trap her. She is already making great progress, we’re able to pet her and she lays her head in your hand and wags her tail. She is sweet! She was just so scared out there, but she so badly wanted to be back in a home again. Her name is Willow, she will be fully vetted and ready for foster or adoption soon! We adopted out Fran, now named Daisy in 2020. She is now being surrendered back to the rescue and looking for a new home. She is very sweet and dog friendly. They said she is incredibly well behaved, house trained, loves treats, enjoys sun bathing and js a big couch potato. She is spayed and microchipped and will be current on vaccines. She’s now close to 5 years old. Please let us know if you have a place for this sweet German Shepherd or know someone who does.

We have a 10 week old kitten that was found hiding in our engine. I heard a commotion in the engine area while it was parked in the driveway, popped the hood and there she was. She was scared but let me grab her. She had a couple injuries on her, one at the base of her tail and one on her front paw. We got her into the vet and they said it looked like bite wounds. Something had bitten this poor little girl and it turned into an abscess. She got all cleaned up, vaccinated, dewormed, combo tested and given flea meds. Cadi is a very sweet and friendly kitten. We have her recuperating in a kennel. We would love to find a foster or forever home for her so she can have some more freedom and not be surrounded by dogs here at a dog rescue. We’ll send her with her bed, litter and kitty food and we’ll get her spayed once she’s all healed. Let us know if you can take in this sweet little kitty!

We need a 5 day foster for Cookie, until Wednesday.
He was saved from euthanasia and is waiting to go on transport up north. He is very quiet and kennel trained. He has no reaction when he meets other dogs. He goes potty on the leash and is pretty calm. He is very interested around cats so we would just keep them away. We can provide a crate, bed and food for him. Let us know if you can watch this big boy for a few days. We would greatly appreciate it! He’s up to date on vaccines and neutered

This sweet, extremely skinny dog showed up at our property also when there were storms. He was a little nervous as first but seemed to be attracted to all the other dogs and quickly just followed along and we got him inside. He was also full of ticks and was given a nexgard plus and vaccinated. We notified the shelter and they don’t have anyone looking for him. He’s a very sweet and friendly dog. He gets along with all the other dogs. He will be neutered in July and receive his rabies, microchip and heartworm test. He’s a younger dog, only a couple years old. We’re calling him Fawn for now. He is available to be fostered or adopted.

This gorgeous dog is Boi, he’s a 4-5 year old German Shepherd. He was surrendered from a tough situation. He’s a happy, friendly dog, he loves to play fetch! That’s his favorite thing in the world. He likes the water as well. He’s well behaved, potty and kennel trained. He’s great with other dogs and kids. Boi would love to find his forever home. We are looking for a foster for 3 puppies. The third photo is Darla. She has a foster starting Friday. The other three need a foster until they’re adopted. We can provide puppy pens, crates, food, whatever is needed to foster them. Starting this weekend. It’s always better to have puppies in multiples so they can keep each other company. Please help us out and foster some puppies! The foster that has the whole litter can no longer foster 9, which is a lot of puppies. We don’t have the space and time to take care of more puppies right now. If you know anyone who would love to play with some puppies for a while and lives in San Antonio, please send them our way. We have adoption events every weekend we would love for them to come to help get them adopted.
