Mac has been placed with a New Hope rescue
*** medical priority - Brachycephalic syndrome ***
MAC’s family didn’t leave many notes for him, and that’s a shame, because this little short stack is the sweetest thing since sugar. He was given up when the landlord stated that dogs were not welcome, and at 3 years old, he bid his family goodbye, his little tail wagging furiously as they walked out of his life. We know he was friendly, outgoing and playful with adults and strangers, and the same with children (he lived with a couple) though initially shy. Now he is alone, but read his enrichment note where the volunteer said when they got to his kennel he was very wiggly! He was taken out to the play yard where he stopped to look at another dog barking at him, but this good boy didn’t even bark back and continued minding his business and went on his merry way. He was attention seeking with his new friend, then tried (with his stubby little legs – awwww!) to climb up onto the so he could be by their side and play with his toys. After his outing, he went right back to his kennel with no issues. This boy is a gem! He is just starting to deteriorate in the kennel and getting stressed, biting his leash. This behavior will disappear as soon as he goes back into the kind of life he was used to and loved --- a family environment – where he will be loved and cherished and taken out on lots of walks and hikes and on adventures. Please consider saving his life. We can’t imagine the world without sweet boy MAC.
What my friends at ACC say about me:
I have medical needs that staff will address with you when you meet me. I would appreciate slow introductions to new people and places to help me feel safe. I don't always like to share my food, toys or bedding with other animals. I would do best in a home with only adult humans. I love getting pets and - you guessed it - snuggles!

AT RISK MEMO:
Mac is at risk and needs placement for medical reasons. He has severe brachycephalic syndrome, allergies, and has now contracted CIRDC. Due to his brachycephalic nature in addition to his CIRDC he is at increased risk for respiratory distress. He needs to leave the shelter in order to recover from CIRDC in a low stress environment that will not further exacerbate his already compromised breathing system.

Once outside, Mac relived himself and walked into the pen, pulling slightly. He stopped to look at another dog that was barking at him but did not bark back and continued walking. Mac walked around the pen, sometimes seeking handler attention. He sniffed out the area, tried to climb on the bench, and played with toys. He tried to avoid the slip leash again but was leashed.
