Thank you rain! It has been so hot out... #DidYouKnow animals that live in arid climates often don't drink much water? They have adapted to get most of their water from their food (prey or plants). They will drink from water if they can find a source though! This little Leopard gecko shows how they will drink water droplets off rocks and plants when the sky does decide to open up!
It's almost the end....Reptileman and the animals of RRS Oasis and Rainforest Reptile Shows Inc. will be leaving Davis Farmland for the season.Last day is Sept.4 💚💙

Does it feel like the week is moving at a snails pace to anyone else or is it just us?
Let's learn a little more about the axolotl! This animal is native to Mexico but due to invasive fish species and habitat destruction (mostly due to the drainage of the natural lakes) much of its native home has been lost. They have been considered critically endangered since 2006 as very few remain in the wild. Despite their uncertain future, they have long been held as important symbols in Mexican history and culture. Their name comes from the Nahuatl language of the Aztecs meaning water dog.
These are axolotl eggs! RRS Oasis had a huge surprise when they found tons of these in their new Axolotl tanks. Did you know the axolotl (Ambystroma mexicanum) lives its entire life underwater? Unlike most amphibians, these animals retain the features of a tadpole and so never venture onto land. #FaunaAndFeathers

Have you had the chance to meet Beasley? She is a Burmese Python (Python bivittatus) and one of our animal ambassadors. As a Burmese Python, she is one of the largest snakes in the world (can grow up to 23 ft!) and is a native to Southeast Asia. #FaunaAndFeathers
Just a short video of Michael (Reptileman) and Fred having a nice chat. Did you know Alligators are super talkative? They have a wide range of vocalizations! What do you think they are talking about?
