WESLEY, Aunt Di is soooooo happy to hear from you on the celebration of your 1-year anniversary of your adoption day. Happy Gotcha Day, you sweet, sweet boy!!! You are sooooo dear to me, but more importantly, you are sooooo dear to your family. Loving you is so so easy. God bless you and your family forever! And, I am so touched and honored you have not forgotten your Aunt Di.

“Aunt Di,
We just had my one year gotcha day party with new toys and new snacks and I had the best time. Before I fall asleep for my nap, I wanted to make sure you knew I am still so grateful for all the love and care you gave me, including picking my mom and dad. I am such a lucky beagle boy. Mocha is the best big sister and we are two peas in a pod. I love her so much I even let her play with my toys sometimes. Hope you’re doing well and enjoying your babies as much as mom and dad are enjoying us. Love you, grateful for you,
Wesley”

Foster mom Lee Anne just sent me this picture with the caption, “Goodbye kisses.”

LOTTE (in the chair) and ENID are kissing goodbye this morning. With heartworm treatment in the books now for Enid, Lee Anne and her mom Barbara are driving Enid to Arkansas for Enid to meet her forever family halfway, Jenny, Dale and SHILOH, also one of our Grace Rescue babies of 3 years ago. This is a bittersweet moment for Lee Anne, Barbara, Enid and Lotte. Once you love, it’s so hard to say goodbye. Godspeed to all!

Daddy John re SAMMY (Frisco, TX):

“I'm not allowed to touch Jr Donut. He literally tries to taunt me with it. He smiles/laughs at me afterwards like "HaHa... My Jr Donut!!!”

I honestly do not know who enjoys the game of hide and seek more—Sammy or daddy John. 😂 And, on a serious note, I don’t know what either one would do without the other.

CHELSEA, as tiny as she is, could not have a sweeter, more protective big sister than she has in Brandy Beagle. It was a “testy” first meeting when dad Tim drove from the Tulsa area to Memphis last summer on business but primarily to meet Chelsea and have Brandy meet her as well. He was not deterred at all by Chelsea’s introductory bad mood toward Brandy, but rather felt that in no time at all they would be besties, and he was absolutely correct.

Grace Gillespie in Oxford fostered both Chelsea and her biological sister REESE (adopted a bit later by a couple in Missouri) until the most perfect home for each could be found. That takes time, but Grace was fully on board with that. We could not have made a better judgment call than to permit Chelsea to have a trial visit.

Tim owns his own business and takes Brandy and Chelsea to work with him every single day. His daughter who works for him brings her black lab as well. It’s a family affair for sure.

Following is Tim’s update and picture he just sent us:

“Brandy naps with her security paw on Chelsea. If Chelsea moves, Brandy instantly springs to life, making sure all is well.”

Well, this is an all too familiar sight to any Beagle mom or dad when food is involved.

TOWNER, I’m so happy for you to have your share of Mom’s fortune cookie, especially after your several years of knowing nothing but life outside in a north Mississippi hunting kennel. Lucky you and Desi that mom Darlene doesn’t like them. 🥰🐶 If I were there, I would be right there with you and Desi—I LOVE fortune cookies too. But, there could be no better “fortune” than living the life you now are privileged to have right there in Texas. Hugs and kisses, Aunt Di.

TIPPER/Clyde looks a little lonely now that the day has finally arrived for his hooman brother to start college at Loyola—so close but, in some ways, so far away.

As mom Michelle wrote with these pics:

“Aunt Di, we are empty nesters now. Andrew is living on campus over at Loyola. So Clyde is now the only baby in the house. I have had dreams that Clyde too needed to go stay at the dorm and I had to drive him over there every night and the boys would cheer when he would arrive. 🤣 We saw two dogs with service vests on at Freshman orientation. One of which was chihuahua who was labeled a “service dog in training” lol. 😬
I think baby TIPPER/ Clyde is going to get used to having all of the attention very soon.”

I just woke up this morning to mom Charity’s update along with these sweet pictures of our DARBY in Rhode Island. What a great way to start my day.

“Hi Diana! Hope you are having a good summer! Here are some updated pictures of Darby! She’s such a love! 💕”

How exciting! We have a second adoption to announce this week. Lee Anne in Germantown is partial to the older Beagles and just informed me that she is officially adopting LOTTE!

Lotte, you may remember, was abandoned in pretty bad shape a few months ago just outside Holly Springs along with REAGAN (now adopted and living in Alabama).

Lee Anne favors the older Beagles and let me know a few weeks ago she was ready to have a trial visit with Lotte. But, she also volunteered to foster ENID through heartworm treatment, knowing Enid already had an approved adopter in Arkansas. So Enid had plenty of support as she journeyed through heartworm treatment. Lotte enjoyed her company.

We are very grateful to Lee Anne and her mom Barbara for taking on those responsibilities, and we couldn’t be more thrilled for Lotte to have a forever home with Lee Anne and Barbara.

Lucky TOBY was released from Mississippi State Veterinary School yesterday to return home to Tupelo. I know he must be soooo happy to be back home. Per Angela:

“…He is sleeping a lot. Poor boy has been through a lot. He lets me know when he wants something though. He has always been my snuggle bug. Ace is being a very good brother, he stays away from Toby. Ace acts like he knows he can’t get near Toby.”

I believe in the power of prayer, and I thank all of you who remembered this family in your prayers. They were heard and answered.

It’s official: ONYX is forever home in the NE, many thanks to our partner/sister rescue Golden Huggs Rescue, Inc. Thank you, Mary Jane, for being the perfect foster for Onyx, being a good teacher to him and for loving him as your own.

From Brigette, President of Golden Huggs:

“Thank you Mary Jane for fostering and loving him! Here is a video we received! Diana it’s heaven ! Thank you for trusting us!”

Trusting them is always the easy part for me.

Happy Sunday to all! This just has to be the cutest picture of CHLOE ever! As beautiful and poised and sophisticated as she usually looks, there is something “little girlish” and totally innocent (says no one ever of a Beagle 😂) about her in this picture.

Messaged this morning with mom Melissa about HARLEY’s/Harris’ med records, as well as Harley in general. He recently met his new vet in Birmingham and came home with a great medical report overall. Of course, we are painfully aware that healing his ears will be a work in progress for some time to come. With that said, however, his ears are healing nicely, albeit slowly as we expected. We couldn’t be happier that Harley has exactly the family we prayed for. He couldn’t be happier, and he couldn’t be in more loving hands.

For the post-op report, I thought I would post some happy pictures taken over the years of TOBY and ACE, along with Angela’s sweet granddaughter. Surgery ran about 4 hours, 😬. Amazing doctor report:

“Removed all of his left lung & tiny amt of right lung. Removed a lymph node. Said dogs survive with 50% lungs and he has more than 50%. He had a terrible diseased lung. He made it through a major hurdle but not out of the woods yet. Will sleep in oxygen again tonight. They will keep me updated. Thank you for your prayers!!”

Please continue to pray for Toby and his family. 🙏🐶

We have an emergency situation for which we wish to ask for your prayers. These sweet boys are ACE and TOBY, who were adopted together in 2019 by the Cooks. They are “chocolate tri” brothers who have been together every single day of their lives, were dumped together roadside in a cardboard box, fostered together by Barb as she has so many others, and adopted together.

Angela’s message says it all, and we would be so appreciative if all of you would pray for Toby who is, as I write, undergoing emergency surgery at Mississippi State Veterinary School. But, pray also for brother Ace who does not understand and is missing his brother. And, Angela needs our prayers just as much. You can imagine how she is feeling right now:

He just went into surgery. He had a blood clot in lung last night. 🙏🏻🙏🏻

He was so happy to see me right b4 surgery. He had so much fluid in his chest. Said he will lose some of his lung. Planned surgery for tomorrow but he got worse so doing emergency surgery. Said that or put him to sleep. I’ve been to vets so much the past 6 weeks. I knew something was wrong. His blood work was good & even good when got to MSU. They said this was hard to find. My heart is broken. Love this boy to death.

Aunt Cwis, my’s daddy was work’n in his office when I’s fell asleep. I’s just woke up and my’s daddy’s gone. I’s guess it’s my’s own fault for sleep’n ons the job. I hopes I’s not miss’n a boards meeting, cause he pends on me’s to advise him. Will you’s takes me’s to finds him? You thinks he may’s be upset wiff his Charlie (SPENCER) boy?

This little girl is at last on the home stretch of heartworm treatment. Foster mom Lee Anne dropped ENID off at our vet clinic last Monday for a two night stay to take her back-to-back Imiticide injections. At last, this completes her heartworm treatment except for one more 30-day period of rest to allow her little body safely to absorb the now dead heartworms.

We have been frequently updating her approved forever family in Arkansas, which includes a new big brother, our ALBERT/now Shiloh, adopted a couple of years ago. Be a good girl, Enid, and be patient just a few more weeks.

So excited to just now receive this update and picture of our MAIZEY, now in Alabama, just north of Birmingham. What I always love most is hearing how much my Beagle babies mean to you, my adopters, especially in spite of challenges. Thank you soooo much Joyce!

“Maizey update. We love this little girl so much. She returns that love ❤️ also. We were having a problem of her getting out of the fence 🙄. Reinforcing the fence helped. We would always have her harness on if she was in the back yard. We didn't think she could go under the fence with the harness on. On Mother's day we were all outside, and to our surprise Maizey went right under the fence, harness and all. Of course there was a squirrel on the other side. So we got her a training collar. It beeps when she gets too close to the fence. She has not gotten out since. She is doing great 👍. She is the joy of our lives. ❤️”

This little Beagle boy brings me so much joy with every picture Melissa and Tim share with me. It is so much fun watching HARLEY/now Harris discover those things we take for granted. I am sure he had no idea about sofas, much less that he would be allowed on one. It is so easy to see just how happy he is. It’s like he’s saying, “Look at me now, Aunt Di!” 💙💙💙💙

Miss LILY continues her adventurous life with mom Doreen as they explore more and more of their beautiful state of North Carolina Doreen now calls home after her former home in the NE. And, what would any adventure be like for this socialite of a Beagle girl without meeting and making a new friend? And, who would have guessed Lily’s gateway to this wonderful life would have been made possible by landing her little self in the Tipton County Animal Shelter in Tennessee?

I lived in North Carolina for two years as a pre-teen, too young then to appreciate my family’s “dragging me along” to explore the many treasures of that state. I am thankful that Doreen and Lily take me along to have a second chance to experience through their adventures what I could not appreciate then.

From Doreen earlier this morning:
“We went for a 1 mile hike to High Shoals Waterfalls... Lily did great climbing rocks and we got to the top and Lily met a new friend and what a beautiful waterfall.”

All the way from Colorado Springs, our very own Grace Rescue beauty LAUREL (“Wendy” from the Tipton County Animal Shelter) is our Independence Day poster child to wish all a happy 4th of July but also to remind us that there are so many other ways to celebrate besides with loud, scary fireworks.

This sweet baby has her calming meds on board, and her dad has her place in his walk-in closet all ready for her. Yes, that’s her go to safe place where they both spend the night on this holiday. Thank you, Al, for being soooo devoted to her and making this holiday as comfortable as possible for her.

We just found out that this baby is officially ADOPTED! HARLEY, we have been through a long journey with your needs, but you have just landed the best home and family for you! You lucky little dude! We look forward to following you as Harris as you become more and more comfortable in your forever home. Aunt Di is beside herself with excitement for you and thanks to the Lord for bringing this family to us! Congratulations, sweetheart!
