Finishing off 2023 with a lovely morning out trailing, everyone and everydog done good, although there was some discussion between us two, as to whether the mispers really went up this particular slope 🤔
Also asking a dog to work past a pond full of bread is probably borderline cruelty 😂

No blue sky today, so apart from testing our waterproofs we're working urban contamination, wet surfaces and transitions, staying safe around traffic whilst giving the teams longer trails🌧️.
I didn't mention the cat did I?

The last exercise of a day that had seen mixed results for Pippa and me, this job was a pick out the misper in a crowd (ok is 4 + dog a crowd? Discuss.) First time she has worked this problem and the sitting decoy and on leash dog were unexpected little extras , so pretty pleased with ourselves. Calmer indication is something to work on in time.

We'd like to say Congratulations to Annie who together with Lexi have achieved their Diploma in Mantrailing. As accredited by UKRuralSkills and delivered by Mantrailing Scent Dogs.

Thank you to Moira and Andrew for all your time and assistance in helping Annie to reach this impressive milestone.

"I am so proud of how Lexi and I work as a team, as anyone who has worked in this field knows it's not always easy. But we have worked hard, formed an amazing bond and enjoy continuously testing ourselves to ensure we're the best search team we can be. Thank you everyone who's helped us along the way."

The final assessment for this is a 1.5km trail in the rural/urban environment with 6 direction changes, 1 backtrack aged over an hour. 60min completion deadline.

Good Sunday morning and we're about to run a taster session for 6 aspiring trailers. In the week when the number of people on the planet passed 8 billion, it's never been as good a time to be a Mantrailing dog. Each of those 8 billion has a unique biology and environmental scent. Happy trailing!
