An e-mail was sent out to our teams today with the subject, "Happy Gotcha Day." Turns out, eleven years ago today, Dr. Neisius purchased the clinics and in doing so, she adopted IHAC and all of us! So it was OUR gotcha day! 🤣

It's hard to believe it's been eleven years and when asked about it, Dr. Neisius said, "I heard most vet clinic owners sell after the 10 year mark- primarily because it's hard, anxiety-inducing, stressful and exhausting. I get that. I feel that. But it's a lot easier to handle the negative aspects when you have the people that we have at IHAC by my side. I don't think I have another eleven years in me, but I do know that we have a REALLY fun year coming up and eleven will very quickly turn into twelve and then thirteen- and I know I can keep going because our teams support, encourage, uplift, and help me more than they know!"

So happy Gotcha day to IHAC and congrats to Dr. Neisius on eleven wonderful years as a locally owned, female owned, small business owner!

📢📢Our Maize road clinic is STILL CLOSED today due to a water main break outside. All appointments have been diverted to our 13th street clinic where our incredibly resilent teams are working in unison for your pets!

Fortunately, we have been blessed with deliveries of delicious tea from HTeaO Wichita KS - West, bagels, coffee and cocoa from Panera and sugar spiking energy from Sugar Llamas Wichita!

A genuine thank you to our friend and partner, Ginny with Zoetis, on ensuring our staff nourishment was taken care of!

I swear... we're feeling quite like the bug lately.

🚨🚨Our Maize road clinic had a water main break out front. We do not have water to our building as of 9:30am, therefore we cannot see appointments and work out of there. ( ) 🚨🚨

We are reaching out to all of our appointments to shift them to our 13th street location and will do our best to fit everyone into a tight building and an even tighter parking lot!

Please know this hinders our ability to serve all that need care today and we appreciate your understanding.

Last night, these three women participated in a mock veterinary school interview hosted by Dr. Robinson, Dr. Hill and Dr. Neisius.

They answered questions regarding their personal interests, professional ambitions, ethical delimmas and current events… (and a random question about manhole covers that Zoey aced her response to! 🤣)

They have their official interviews this Friday afternoon and we will be sending them two clinic-fulls of love and support all day long!

So, to Zoey, Olivia & Hannah- you’re ready! Just be you- because YOU have succeeded thus far in your endeavors, YOU have grown into amazingly caring, kind, and intelligent young women, and YOU are just what the veterinary industry needs in its future!

Our teams are back from CE with ~ 18-20 hours of education, swag galore (including screaming donkeys) and a love/hate relationship with Big Betty (photo in comments)! 🚨🚨Just a heads up, though, we WILL be closing at noon tomorrow for an important staff meeting, team photo, and in-clinic education!!🚨🚨 Thanks for your support and understanding!

We were referred a patient for an endoscope procedure to try to identify the reason for it's chronic vomiting. The referring clinic did an excellent work-up and no matter the treatment, the poor dog just kept vomiting and was starting to lose weight. Dr. Neisius and her team knew right away something was amiss when she entered the stomach with the scope. There was a lot of abnormal inflammation, edema and some small, punctate lesions that looked scabbed. Upon closer inspection, she saw a tiny immature worm wiggling and knew the diagnosis immediately. Stomach worms, or physaloptera sp., can be hard to diagnose as the eggs aren't easily found on our stool tests- and they require a different deworming protocol than most other GI parasites. Dogs can get stomach worms after eating crickets, beetles and other infected insects, and it can take as few as 1-3 worms to cause significant vomiting and gastritis. Our team removed one of the four worms we saw- to assess it under the microscope, took a few biopsies to make sure nothing else was an issue, and woke the patient up with good news for it's mom and regular veterinarian. #ihacvet #vetmedlife #ernietheendoscope

IHAC’s Community Outreach hit us in all the feels again this year!! 🎄 We were able to help provide gifts for 45 individuals in our community that needed a little extra help this season… ages 10 months to 49 years old! ❤️ Within 20 minutes of posting the names, they were all “adopted” and in just four days, the gifts were purchased, wrapped, and delivered! We can’t thank our partnership enough with United Methodist Open Door and Calvary United Methodist Church for doing all the hard work to bring Christmas to everyone! #ihacvet #IHACCommunityOutreach #UMOpenDoor #CalvaryUMC
