Being a veterinarian was always on Andi Smith’s radar. When she was a child, the family had dogs and a horse, and when the equine veterinarian visited their house, she followed him around, peppering him with questions. She majored in animal science at North Carolina State University and fulfilled her dream in veterinarian school at Auburn University. Through those years in college, and then as she

started a career, her soul mate was a pug named Mr. As he aged, she became knowledgeable about geriatric pet care. Another elderly pug she adopted taught her what it was to live with a deaf, mostly blind dog with chronic health issues. Her career began in a traditional setting, but now, in her Heal House Call practice, she is reminded of the veterinarian who visited her home as a child. She’s the one who offers the personalized service only afforded by a house call practice.

“I get to know my clients and their pets in their own homes,” she says, “and I have more time to truly listen and observe.” Her professional passion for her career has become infused with compassion.
