Seniors for Seniors! It's a great program that a lot of rescues support. Senior dogs and cats adopted by senior folks. It can be a match made in heaven and owning a pet helps you live a longer, happier life!

Everyone wants to adopt little dogs, so then why do we still have "The Littles"?! These 2 have not had one inquiry since they were listed back in the spring.

The Littles were caught together at an abandoned property. We assume they were dumped there because it had been abandoned for awhile. They're a bit over a year old and in the middle of their heartworm treatment. They will hopefully be cleared of hw by Oct.

Yoda is assumed to be a corgi mix. He is a spunky little guy with some quirks that you will grow to love. He's the leader of the littles, their protector, and he took his job very serious when they were on their own. Now that his walls are down, he's a happy little guy full of love. Yoda is good with other dogs but have seen him dominant over ones his size.

Minnie Mouse will probably be a velcro dog. All she wants is a lap and a face to kiss. She is great with male dogs, but dominant over females. She's also great with kids of all ages.

Both dogs will jump a 4 ft fence, Yoda will climb a chain link 6 ft if he wants. I've seen it, it's crazy, he's like spiderman. So we do require a 6 ft panel fence for them if you have a fenced in yard. They walk great on a leash and are crate trained. Both are also still a little hesitant with things they don't know and will need patience to learn a new life of living in a home with different smells and sounds.

If you'd like to meet them, let us know!

It's that time of year for us to start collecting donations for the Charles Dickens Christmas Show! 🌲🎅
We will have centerpieces for the Festival of Tables as well as our raffle table, so the donations we are looking for are gift certificates/vouchers for local businesses and monetary donations for the centerpieces to be made.
Centerpieces cost about $100 to have one made by a local florist. Donations for these can be made in memorial of a loved one or furbaby, so we can include a picture next to it to commemorate. If a business would like to donate for a centerpiece, we will include your name and business cards to leave on the table.
Each gift card/voucher donated for our raffle table will have it's own gift box for people to put a ticket into. On top of the box will feature the business name, what the certificate is and address.
Of course, every donation is tax deductible and we can provide a receipt.
If you'd like to support WARM by donating, please message us!

And donations are down on top of all of this. It's bad, really bad. And we don't take saying "I'm sorry, but we can't help" lightly. It weighs on us, heavily. We're in this to help and to not be able to is very hard and heartbreaking. Rescues and shelters needs their community to help back now more than ever!

We need you to understand.❤️‍🩹

Pilot has been adopted! He was found by one of our volunteers running down Hwy. 90. When we had him scanned for a chip it went back to a guy who adopted him from the Horry County shelter but didn't want him anymore. He said he passed him along to another guy but didn't know who. So Pilot stayed with us and after his stray hold, he went up for adoption. Shortly after, he was adopted by a young man who was training to be a commercial pilot. 2 weeks later he called and said he was being immediately transferred half way across the country and unable to bring Pilot with him. So Pilot came back to WARM.
Then a match truly made in heaven happened. Madeline came to help with tuck ins and immediately fit right in with us and the dogs. She got a kick out of Pilot's goofiness in his kennel, so she took him for a walk.
The next day, she called saying she hasn't been able to stop thinking about him and asked what she should do.
Foster to adopt!
Madeline continued to volunteer over the past few months and brought Pilot with her so he could play with his friends. We got to watch their bond form closer over time and see Pilot go from a shy, nervous dog to a confident boy who was so proud to have a human of his own.
We wish them luck on their new journey moving to VA. We're sad to lose an amazing volunteer but our hearts are full knowing these 2 found each other.

We lost a long time friend on Friday. 🌈🐾
Isis, named for the Godess, was born at WARM over 12 years ago. If you knew Julie, you know that the Great Pyrenees was her favorite breed. She rescued them from farmers to continue their life as a working/guardian dog over the livestock at WARM and she rescued the non working ones to adopt out. At one point we had at least 8 GP's throughout the rescue and farm. So of course, we all grew to learn and love the breed as well.
Isis didn't want the working life, she loved the people, other dogs and the air conditioning too much. She eventually took on the job, herself, as the guardian over all the other dogs in the main kennel yard. She was always at her happiest when she had free roam of the area, to wander to each kennel and say "hey" to her friends and keep an eye on the main gate.
Sadly, her aging body got the best of her and she was ready to meet both her moms, Kira (🐾) and Julie, at the rainbow bridge. We will miss you so much Isis, you have been a constant sweet face that has greeted us for the past 12 years. WARM will not be the same without you. 💔

Guess who just tested negative for heartworm?!?! This guy!!

We've had Duke since Oct and now that he's done his treatment, he can finally be neutered and be listed for adoption. But the best part isn't that, well it is, but I am so happy he finally gets to play with his friends at the farm!

The dog days of summer are here, but Winky and Buddy don't care as long as the pool is ready!
We had a pool party last night and they had a blast! Winky discovered how amazing relaxing in a pool of water can be, but playing with her new friend in it is even better.
Our new "it" couple absolutely love each other. They're the same size and energy and we are SO happy they have each other to get out that pent up kennel anxiety. Both are waiting for their forever homes, so if you're feeling adventurous, adopt these 2 and I guarantee not only will they entertain each other, but you will have a ball with them! Just get out of their way when it's WWE time!
*Both require a fenced in yard, Buddy a 6 ft fence because he can fly over a 4 ft one.

Sometimes a picture is worth 1000 words

This is amazing!
Kennel anxiety is a real thing and it's so important for dogs to get physical and mental exercise, as well as socialization! Shelters are overwhelmed right now, which means so are the dogs and staff. This is a win win situation for everyone involved. Way to go Hillsborough County Public Schools and way to go Cross Country team!

Horry County Schools, let's get our kids to help out too!

Waiting at the vets can be exhausting when you're a walk in! But we appreciate our friends at Onpoint Animal Hospital so much!

Buddy is our newest intake, though we aren't doing intakes, but like the rest he found one of us at WARM. Buddy ran out in front of one of our volunteers car on International Blvd. When we posted him on FB to search for his owners, the post was quickly flooded with comments of neighbors who knew him and a person who saw a suspicious truck on International that day with a dog running beside it. Dramatic evening in a nutshell, Buddy was dumped by one of his owners. After talking to the other owner, who actually cared about him and had no clue this happened, Buddy was surrendered over to us and we are so grateful.

But let's put that negativity aside and focus on the good news here...Buddy is now ready for his new family! He's a 1.5 yr old Shepherd/Husky mix, but we believe he has some hound in him too. You can read all about him on Petfinder.

https://www.petfinder.com/dog/buddy-71879988/sc/conway/warm-waccamaw-animal-rescue-mission-sc51/

Buddy also came in with an injured foot and a horrible case of hookworms. We still haven't raised money for our fence and vet bills keep piling up, so we're asking our WARM fam for help to replenish some funds! If you'd like to make a donation, for Buddy, our new fence and/or any of the other animals at WARM, you can through PayPal (paypal.me/warmrescue) or Venmo ()!

As Memorial Day approaches, we want you to have fun while keeping your pets safe!
Fireworks can be extremely stressful for animals. Here are some tips to keep them calm during the celebrations:
🐾Keep pets indoors and walk dogs during the day
🐾Provide a quiet space for them with plenty of distractions (toys, treats, soothing music)
🐾Check ID tags to ensure contact information is current
🐾Microchip your pet and contact the chip company to make sure your contact information is current if your pet is already microchipped

Our inside fridge quit! So we are in need of a simple refrigerator with top freezer. Even one of those small ones for condos will do.

Plastics are porous, meaning oils become trapped in them. Unless they’re washed daily, which isn’t practical, the pet food stored inside will be spoiled by rancid oils. Proper pet food storage is essential to blocking or delaying the development of degenerative chemical processes and the growth of spoilage bacteria.

Store dry pet food in a cool and dry place. The temperature should be less than 80 F. Excess heat or moisture may cause the nutrients to break down. Moisture can lead to mold, which can make your pet sick. High temperatures can also speed up the degradation process and cause the nutrients within the food to breakdown. Avoid storing your dry dog food in places where temperatures can exceed 100 degrees Fahrenheit, like a garage or shed.

Pet professionals recommend storing the dog food in the original bag instead of pouring the food into a storage container. To seal your dog food bag, you can roll down the sides and use a bag clip to close up the bag.

Alternatively, you can store the entire bag inside of an airtight bpa free or stainless steel container.

Yoda wants to wish you all a Happy May 4th!
Yoda's a special little guy looking for his forever family. Yes, his ear always stays up like that and it's just the cutest!
He was found at an abandoned house with his siblings and unfortunately doesn't know how to be a dog because of whatever happened to him in the past and having to constantly be on guard to protect his brother and sister. Yoda has his walls up and you will have to prove to him he can trust you. This means, we will need you to come more than a few times to sit with him, walk him and let him get to know you before the adoption is approved and he can come to your home. He needs to know you're a safe person before his environment completely changes again. The last thing we want to do is put a stressed dog with a new person in a new place, it's a recipe for disaster for everyone. Once you break through his walls though, he is an absolute love and you'll see this happy face and eyes constantly smiling at you.
Yoda is up to date on his shots, neutered and HW positive. He starts his injection portion of the treatment on May 16th and will be under a lot of restrictions to keep his heart rate level for 6 months.
If you'd like to meet Yoda, please message us! We'd love for him to find his person(s) before he starts his intensive part of the treatment!
On a personal note, I love this boy so much. He has come a long way with me since he first came in and I can't wait to see him start his new journey. He is so misunderstood and just needs love. If you want as many kisses back as you give, Yoda's your man!
