A note about Helene. One of our vendors at the Kingsport Farmer's Market appears to be stranded in Asheville. I've tried to reach her but so far have not had any success. Here is Plantfaced's (Sara Dunn) post from FB on Oct 2:

Hello Friends, I just wanted to let you know we are safe and somewhat sound.
Mentally & Emotionally exhausted.
We now have shelter, thank god, we are not able to be in our home due to devastation of Hurricane hitting Asheville, NC. We have been struggling since Friday. Work is no longer and we are hoping to find away to bounce back, we are resilient and thankful our lives were spared, many were not (rest their spirits)
We are trying to get food, gas and living

We finally have a name! We are still a part of Atlas Culinary East but will have our new Homeschool Resource Center/Cafe under our new name Founders Place. In a word, government subsidies. Corn (think corn syrup), wheat (bread, carbs, carbs, carbs) and potatoes (french fries) are cheaper to grow, store and ship and get $$ from taxpayer dollars. While produce like broccoli, carrots and peppers cost more to grow and require special storage for shipping. Here's a thought - buy local produce! Stuff that's actually grown in our area (check back a few posts for the harvest calendar). Not only will you get fresher foods, you support the local economy.
