The Animal Humane Association of Star Valley (AHASV) at Lucky's Place Animal Shelter is a no-kill, nonprofit animal rescue in Star Valley, WY. If you're interested in volunteering in any form or fashion please contact us via phone or email. We are always in need of dog walkers, kennel maintenance technicians, foster homes, and staff at events. Donations can be mailed or submitted on our website. Meet Jingle and Bells, the perfect pair of 4-month-old border collie sisters who are ready to light up your life—two wagging tails at a time! These playful pups are bursting with adorable personality, charm, and an endless supply of love. Together, they’re a delightful mix of mischief and sweetness, ready to bring double the laughter to your home.

Jingle loves playing and eagerly making friends with every new person or pet she meets. They both are clever little thinkers who love showing off their smarts by learning new tricks and commands in record time. And while Bells may seem the quieter sibling at first, wait until you catch her iconic side eye! It's the most adorable, slightly judgy look that perfectly says, “Really?”—it’ll have you laughing every time.

These two love spending their days romping around together, whether they're zooming through the yard in a game of chase or teaming up to make the most of playtime. When the excitement winds down, they’re both experts at snuggling up for belly rubs, cuddles, and a cozy nap.

Jingle and Bells are making great strides with potty training and are well on their way to becoming the most well-mannered pups around. Their spaying appointments are just around the corner, too, so they’re all set to find their forever family. With Jingle’s cheerful curiosity and Bells’ clever wit (and, of course, her irresistible side eye), these two complement each other perfectly. Come and meet them!

Friends of Lucky's Place we are looking to find an immediate foster or adoptive family for Izzy the pig. We simply aren't set up at the shelter to support a pig staying with us, but we are committed to helping Izzy and making sure he is somewhere he is safe and cared for. Izzy the pig is 4 years old, roughly 150 pounds, and not housebroken. His owner's name is Justin and his number is 307.226.5242 if you would like to call him directly. Justin was injured recently and desperately needs our help in finding a place for Izzy to be rehomed. Please share with everyone you know who might be willing or capable of giving this little piggy the love and attention he deserves.

Meet Rufus! Rufus is a playfully energetic 1.5-year-old pup with an extra joyful zest for life and a huge soft heart. He thrives in the great outdoors, whether he's leaping through snow, hiking along scenic trails, or enjoying the wind in his fur during car rides. Rufus is a very social boy who gets along well with most dogs after proper introductions and he absolutely adores people, including kids—though older children might be a better fit due to his high energy. Rufus is housebroken and eager to be part of an active home where he can burn off his playful puppy energy. While he’s not a fan of cats, chickens, or other small animals, he more than makes up for it with his loyalty and charm! He'd do best in a home without feathered or feline friends. Rufus has a bit of a protective streak when it comes to sharing his food with other dogs, but with love and guidance, this enthusiastic and loving boy will blossom into all the behaviors he's capable of. This sweet boy has been in and out of the shelter and just needs the chance to have a family with consistency and commitment. He's been an amazing foster and we know that in the right home, he will be one of the best companions our shelter has ever seen adopted out. Rufus is ready to meet his forever family—come meet him!

Meet Kepler again, a tender-hearted 5-month-old Terrier mix. This sweet little pup has already faced more challenges in his short life than any puppy should. Abandoned at a shelter with an expiration date set, Kepler was lost and afraid. Thankfully, we could offer him a brighter path filled with love, hope, and time at Lucky's Place. ❤️‍🩹

Meet Nakito again! Nakito has been with us a long time in foster and waiting here at the shelter to find a forever family of his own. A true social butterfly, Nakito is a very friendly dog and loves meeting people. In a home environment, he can be selective with other male dogs, but he has a special fondness for the ladies! He’s shown his new foster family just how much love he has to give by bonding with some of their dogs already. This handsome guy is a sweetheart through and through, ready to bring joy and companionship to a family lucky enough to welcome him home.

Nakito’s progress in his foster home is impressive—he’s already taken to his crate like a pro and patiently waits to eat his food with a polite “sit.” With a little extra guidance to bring out his full potential, there's no limit to what he can learn! Friends of Lucky's Place we have a unique pet looking for a family that will love and care for him. We are hoping to help rehome a little piggy. He's a very loved pet and he is neutered. His owner has broken their hip and can no longer care for him. Nakito is looking for a chance to find his forever family. He is staying with his second foster family now learning crate training and brushing up on his manners where he can. He's such a good boy! His best friend Betty has been adopted. Nakito misses her but has shown his new foster family that he is bonding with some of their dogs too. Nakito gets along amazingly with dogs close to his size and oh boy does he love the ladies! This handsome guy will be a great loving addition to a family! 💖

It is injured and has been taken to Bridger Animal Hospital for help by the kind person who found him/her. Oh, what a difference a year makes! ❤ Remi, formerly known as Cupid, was adopted as a puppy last year and is loving life after the shelter! We have an adorable little litter of 8 puppies that will soon be ready for foster and adoptive families. Little Lab mixes that are nursing with their momma yet. This sweet family was brought to us for a chance. Their precious momma is a stray with nowhere safe or secure to take care of her babies.
