If you haven't taken your dog out to lunch yet, I highly recommend it. It's a great way to bond with your pup and get some much-needed outdoor time. Plus, there are so many dog-friendly spots in Charlotte!

November was a tough month, but we had to make a difficult decision - it was time to quit our in-home lesson program and focus on something better. We knew that our clients deserved the best results possible, and that their dogs deserved to succeed as well. After thorough consideration, we realized that with an in-home lesson program it’s impossible for 90% of people to reach the desired outcome.

Our board and train program allows us to spend hours rewarding good behavior, introducing your dog to different public places, and most importantly understanding the science behind your pup’s thought process.

It's unluckily true that unless you possess an intense knowledge of behavioral science or ample free time, sticking with a lesson program won't cut it - if you want guaranteed success for you pup, then let us work some magic!

Hawker. This is the new kid. He's been apart of the family for just under a week now and is doing so well that he got to spend some time a the festival on downtown Kannapolis today. He's been studying hard. It payed off because he was the sweetest and most polite company.

Welp that didn’t go the way I planned… each and every dog I train leaves a special place in my heart and I couldn’t be more grateful for the clients that have given me that opportunity! ♥️

In August of 2021 I met this guy as a 9 week old puppy and from day one I knew he was special! I can remember expressing how great he was in his evaluation. I was so excessive I left feeling like his owner may have thought I was blowing smoke up her butt 💨 but he truly was an outstanding puppy!

At 6 months old he started coming to stay 2 nights a week for daycare and our bond grew even stronger! All of the dogs that come to stay with me are treated like my own and receive the upmost care and love… but Brooks was here so often he truly became part of the pack! My dogs loved him, my cat loved him, we loved him, and he was a regular at family functions and lessons.

His owner is moving out of state and this week was his last week with me… I packed him a goodie bag to keep him occupied on the drive (A bully stick, a traveling water bowl, a Himalayan chew, and a new toy), along with a goodie bag for his human brother. My love language is 100% gift giving 😂 I was excited to watch them open the travel gift! Instead, I boohooed my driveway 🤦🏼‍♀️ I’m not an emotional person and had no intention of crying! But damn! I’m gonna miss that dude!

Brooks… have a blast in your new home and backyard! Oh… also, be good and stay out of trouble!

And Meredith… Thank you for trusting me with him and giving me a opportunity to love him! ALSO… let me know when you guys get settled so I can plan my road trip 😉♥️ AND… send lots of pictures 🤣🙏🏻

I’m not a big fan of these type of post but I want to be completely transparent with everyone! Im preparing for the passing of my grandmother... She had a hemorrhagic stroke and the ventilator was the only thing keeping her with us.

Since being outside with dogs is what we’re all about we’ve decided to host a 𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗵𝗶𝗸𝗲 for the local community to celebrate 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗹 𝗗𝗮𝘆 (June 4)

What’s a pack hike? Essential… it’s a group of dog loving, outdoor enthusiasts all walking their dogs together along a trail. 🐶

Pack walks are great source of exercise, structured socialization, bonding with your dog, building confidence in shy or timid dogs, and meeting other local dog owners.

REINFORCER: anything that immediately follows a behaviour and serves to maintain and/or increase the frequency of that behaviour in the future.

This is Murphy 🐶

Murphy is with us for a 3 week board and train to work on some less than favorable habits he has picked up in his 2.5 years of life.

As you can probably guess… he’s learned how to utilize his 140+ pounds to get his way. He can tap into his sled dog capabilities in a split second, pulling towards people, dogs, mailboxes, or whatever he wants to interact with.

This habit also takes place at the front door… in his mind everyone that crosses the threshold of the front door is there to see him and there’s no stoping him from being the first one from greeting them.

Because of his love for exploring his environment is so strong we’ve been utilizing that as a form of reinforcement.

He’s still allowed greet guest, say hello to others, and have the free time to be a dog and explore his environment but instead of it being on his terms, it is now on our terms and is utilized to reinforce good behavior.

This is the longest caption I think I’ve ever written….

A little less than four years ago I casually began looking for a Dutch Shepherd puppy when I found this girl. Me and my daughter drove to Norfolk,VA that weekend to pick her up. It was a slightly impulsive purchase considering the plan was to get one in 6 months+… but she was everything I wanted.

I’ll be honest… the first night home crate training was a wreck; I ultimately cried myself to sleep, regretting the decision to buy this skreatching monster in the other room.

For 2 months her name was ‘puppy’. Her and I were simply just surviving. The last thing I wanting to do was think about what I wanted to name this hellion of a dog. She never was given the opportunity to chew my furniture or my shoes, accidents never happened. However, she was dog reactive, vocal, and she would full on bite you because it brought her an overwhelming since on happiness. Basically, she was all around miserable puppy to be around. All of this is pretty breed standard… but she was more extreme than any other dutchie I’ve experienced… after all, dutchies don’t have the reputation of ‘velociraptors’ for no reason. Which is how she ultimately got the name Delta; after one of the raptors on Jurassic world 🦖

Training was INTENSE! I didn’t take a board and train for the first 6 months I owned her. I spent countless hours conditioning her to be neutral to dogs, reinforcing good behaviors, and trying to raise and mold her to be the dog I wanted.

Fast forward to today and I couldn’t be more enamored by this girl…she’s social, clear headed, and most importantly she’s my best friend! We had a lot of ups and downs but we enjoyed every step of the process and I can say I’m grateful for the hell she put me though. She taught me more than any school, seminar, or dog ever has. Everyone that meets her loves her… her adaptability is like no other… if you want to cuddle she’ll cuddle, if you wanna train she’ll train, if you wanna go for a hike she’ll hike, and her personal favorite… if you wanna play fetch until your arm gives out she’ll do that too… essentially she’s down for whatever ♥️

My 4 yr old friend Esme at @harvestandmoon always makes my day with her little acts of kindness! Last lesson she filled my pockets with nuts we found along our walk, the previous lesson was handfuls of colorful leaves, this lesson she wanted to get me a drink 🥰 “ya know in case you get thirsty” My job is so much more than training dogs and I wouldn’t change it for the world!
