Tonight I received a call from Jordan Scoggins and her husband that there had been a tip that their dog was possibly sighted off the side of the road .
It was in fact, Remi.
I contacted Heavenly pets cremation and headed over to the Scoggins place.
I felt it was prudent to examine his remains and take pictures. I also had Lisa Baker come out as she knows more about decomposition etc . She is a credentialed veterinary tech nurse.
Trying to figure out how he has appeared there after the area was combed repeatedly is an enigma.
We are asking neighbors to check ring camera surveillance to see if they see anything.
It’s anyone’s guess how he got there after the amount of time that’s lapsed since Jan 1.
But it’s possible after the snow on the 18th he could have been covered . But by Jan 24th the snow was gone. It’s always possible at some point he could have ended up there and under snow.
I combed over the body as did Lisa . She could identify areas of decomp .
Once I got it to Heavenly pets we went over his body again.
There’s so many variables but he was not thin nor did he look like one would expect a dog to look even without food for a week . We know he was not at the spot where he was found today , back early in January .
I’m at a loss until we uncover more info.
There were some holes, 2 , one on his side and one on the side of his head. The latter was though to
be decomp.
The one on his side was looked at once again in the light and while it could be decomp , I thought bullet holes , especially because of a disturbed nieghbor that harms pets. ……..but in talking with former police officer depending on caliber, there may not be an exit point.
If anything is there I will go examine him again . Also after cremation, if there were any bullets , they would be found as they don’t melt in the process. They will let me know if they find something flagrantly nefarious .
I suppose the good side of this tragedy is they have closure and have him back home 😓🙏🐾
