Im going to throw this out there for all those who feed their dogs like I do.
Do you know how easy it is to make yogurt and Greek yogurt at home?
I give my dogs yogurt every day for gut health and it cost me pennies. Not to mention I love honey and vanilla Greek yogurt for myself.
Here’s how to make it for those that don’t know.
* Buy yogurt at the store with the highest number of cultures. (Some have five, some 7 or more. You only have to buy yogurt this last time for the rest of your life 😁)
* Buy a gallon of whole milk
* Heat the whole milk on low (around 3 heat setting) until the milk reaches about 185 (I generally get mine to 195)
* Take milk off burner and let cool (remove the skin from the top when it cools)
* Add about 4tablespoons of yogurt to the cooled milk (milk will still be warm when adding yogurt, which is perfect)
* Cover the milk with a lid ( I put a tea towel over the lid as well so the milk stays in a dark place) and put on the counter or a shelf for about 30hrs
* Voilà, you just made yogurt
* If you want Greek yogurt, put a tea towel or something similar over a strainer, pour the yogurt in the strainer and let sit for a few hours, so the whey drains. And Voilà, you have Greek yogurt. Feed the whey to your dogs
*. Now whenever you make more yogurt, just add a few tablespoons of the yogurt you made to the milk
Before you flavor your yogurt or Greek yogurt with honey, fruit or vanilla, make sure to set a side a few tablespoons of the plain yogurt for your next batch
Now you know how to make 1 gallon of yogurt for $3 a gallon 😁❤️
