We have been seeing lots of scary news stories about canine respiratory illness lately. We want to reassure everyone that your pups are currently at no more risk of catching kennel cough at parks or daycares than they have been in previous years. Every year around this time the canine population sees a rise in respiratory infections, just like in cold season for humans. Our friends in the veterinary community have assured us that there is currently no evidence that the severe viral and bacterial infections we've seen in the news are present in Philadelphia.
That being said, the first step to preventing the spread of respiratory infection is awareness. We at BarkPark check the vaccine records of our attendees diligently, and highly recommend getting a canine influenza vaccine if you haven't done so already. If you notice your dog has a cough, seems lethargic, or loses their appetite, please keep them home from daycare for at least 7 days. If we notice any of these symptoms in a daycare attendee, they will be isolated from the pack and sent home. There's more info on kennel cough and its symptoms on the next slide. Let's have a safe and healthy holiday season!

Our Story

BarkPark offers three unique experiences wrapped in one company. You can think of us as the YMCA for pets. Our South Philly daycare center is the premier pet facility in Philadelphia. We offer a small dog section, a large dog section, and A YOGI section for those pups who need some one-on-one attention. We also offer a crate-free boarding facility where a staff member stays with your pup! Our Passyunk Grooming Salon is your one-stop-shop for all things Pet Grooming. Whether its grumpy cat or a jumpy Shepherd we’re here to get your pet all cleaned up! Our West Philadelphia location scheduled to open soon will have an indoor/outdoor play space, a grooming salon, and a daycare center!
