Panleukopenia
‼️Public Service Anouncement‼️The veterinarians and staff at Fairmont Veterinary Hospital are seeing extremely high numbers of panleukopenia in our feline patients. This disease is extremely infectious/contagious and can be fatal even with treatment. Please, keep your cats up to date on their vaccines and keep them indoors especially if there are feral colonies or large numbers of outdoor cats in your area. Panleukopenia, also known as feline distemper, is the feline parvovirus. Symptoms in cats are: lack of appetite, high fever, vomiting, diarrhea, dehydration, lethargy, and depression. There is no cure for this disease so prevention and vaccination are key to stopping the spread. Patients that contract this disease are admitted for hospitalization, monitoring, and treatment. Help us stop the spread and keep your kitties safe!
