MEET OAKLEY
This sweet boy comes with a story to tell. See Oakley was found back in April of 2023 dragging both his legs down a street in Oak Grove 😢 After a few days, and the help of 2 good samaritans, we were able to trap this very feral cat and rushed him right to the vet (Mansfield of course!) where he went into surgery that same day. Oakley had so many open wounds and sores along his whole back side. He was basically skin and bones but he was a WILD one to say the least. With his injuries, and not knowing how long he was living like that, we didn’t know what the future held for Oakley. But you know us! We, along with Mansfield, will do everything we can to save a life! After months of rehabilitation and his foster mama showing him what love and the nice human touch felt like Oakley slowly (very very slowly) started to come around. After a few months of physical therapy it ultimately came down to Oakley loosing one of his back legs and still a year and a half after his injury his remaining back leg is and will never be 100% workable. Oakley’s remaining back leg works with about 50-60% efficiency. He will probably never be able to jump again but he can still wobble around and get in and out of a lower litter box. Now to the good stuff! After a year and a half of working with Oakley on becoming feral to friendly he now BEGS for attention from his foster mama and will head butt her leg if she’s “ignoring” him. Oakley gets along with other cats and actually quite enjoys the company of a furry friend. Oakley LOVES treats! But they have to be the soft ones 🤣. He’s a cat that knows what he likes! Another favorite friend of Oakley’s is a human 7yr old. She will sit down and Oakley will just find her lap and “plop” down. Anyone who will give Oakley the chance to open up will have a furever best friend! Whomever said feral cats can never be a lap cat has never met Oakley! Oakley is estimated to be between 4-5 years old and a huge ball of fluff.
One last video of Rudy enjoying time with the volunteers today.
Rudy loves children and showed everyone how gentle he can be. He would love some children who can handle his energy but can be so gentle with little ones.
