Someone passed this onto us and we thought it was a great idea to share.
With the 4th of July right around the corner we tend to get several calls about dogs getting out, and owners frantically trying to find them. We ask that you make sure your dogs have their collars on, updated contact information on their licenses, or do something similar to the picture below !

Woofstock, the much-anticipated annual music event, is back for 2024, and this year, the Austin Humane Society has been announced as the second donation stop for concert tickets to see Grace Potter!

On Saturday, February 3rd from noon - 1 p.m., stop by AHS, everyone who brings a donation will receive a ticket for the concert on Friday, February 16th. One donation equals one pair of tickets, with a limit of one pair per person. Tickets will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis, so it's recommended to arrive early to secure your spot. This photo from 1902 shows French knife grinders. They would work on their stomachs in order to save their backs from being hunched all day.

They were also encouraged to bring their dogs to work to keep them company and also act as mini heaters by having them rest on their owners’ legs.

They were also called ventres jaunes (“yellow bellies” in English) because of the yellow dust that would be released from the grinding wheel.
