Imagine your dog having the freedom to run, explore, and be a dog, while YOU have peace of mind, knowing they’ll come back when you call…
How would that feel? 🤩

Don’t forget to check their paw-pads for clumps of ice and snow as well 😉

This is DOG-MAS, Day 4...
Today, I'll be giving you a few reminders of things to consider if you'll be traveling for the holidays, or anytime soon.
There's still plenty of time to take care of these things now, so you have less stress, and more peace of mind 🧘♀️
🎄❅ Welcome to December, friends! 🎄❅
If you're a youtube fan, you may have heard of "Vlogmas"--this is DOG-MAS....day 2
Today's post is actually a bit of information so you can plan for tomorrow's gift to your dog and yourself--decompression.
You might think: "our dogs walk every day," right? Tomorrow's walk will be a bit different, though...
1) We'll do our very best to get out into nature.
That might mean hopping in the car and driving somewhere (hence, the planning).
Depending on where you are in the world, that might mean choosing the best (or maybe least unpleasant) time of day, weather-wise.
It might mean, depending on your dog's tolerance for other dogs or people, being strategic about where and when you go.
You're very smart--figure it out today, so tomorrow you don't get hung up on this part. 😉
2) We'll plan to walk for at least 45, maybe up to 60, minutes.
That's right, you and your dog will have time to get over the ya-ya's that may come in the first 20 minutes of walking, and really settle into a rhythm together.
3) We're not going to worry about what that walk may look like, because it's not a typical structured, training walk.
If your dog is safe off leash and comes back every time you call them (and it's allowed where you plan to go), go off-leash. If not, use a 15' or 20' line. Let them wander out a bit, let them smell the smells, and move their legs.
You should let your mind wander, and breathe deeply.
The whole point is to be, together, in nature.
Enjoy!
p.s. if you take a picture while you're out there, I'd love for you to share it tomorrow!

Here’s a little e-collar quiz for you all as Zelda and I enjoy the woods…
How many times did I push the button?
⏱ [ TWO-MINUTE TRAINING ]
Is your reward placement contributing to your training problem?
Our dogs are pretty efficient creatures, and will 'skip ahead to the good part' when we create patterns as part of training.
If our dog is moving OUT of one position (usually the one we want) and INTO another because that's where the 'good part' happens, then, whether we like it or not, we are creating a strongly reinforced behavior pattern.
So your assignment this week is to work on your body mechanics, and see if adjusting WHERE your dog is rewarded improves that difficult-to-fix habit.
Look who’s back!! I had the pleasure of working with June and her family when she was a puppy. We’re adding a remote training collar to the mix, so they can all enjoy a planned hiking vacation with more freedom.
She’s catching on quickly, #smartie 🤩🥳
Power up your walk with pace changes
{ Two-minute Training } ⏱
When you’re short on time, consider multitasking to satisfy your dog’s need for mental engagement along with their physical need for movement 🧠🐾💥
