Let’s share a Happy Grey Story as 2024 is coming to an end.
Remember MILO?
• diagnosed with early-stage heartworm - thanks to R2R’s thorough Health Checks on USA bound dogs
• it’s a fatal condition he picked up racing in northern Queensland
• while he was undergoing treatment with R2R, he was alas restricted to a very small kennel for 3 months to prevent his sudden death from any running
• finally given freedom and fostered by Andy & Louise
• Then ADOPTED by Ruby! 💜

Well, the exciting news is that he recently tested negative in his final test which means ALL the heartworm eggs in his system were killed (along with the worms) by his first treatment. So, now Milo can go on to live a normal happy hound life (with no plans to return to Qld!)

Ruby shared with R2R that “Milo has a blast running around barking and chasing his siblings in the garden. They are all adopted, my other greyhound Winnie and cattle dog mix Sadie, and being younger they have definitely brought out his playful side. And Milo is always roaching all night long!”
And these photos absolutely show he is living a HAPPY LIFE!

R2R were delighted to get Bridie out of the Pound earlier this week - so that she can celebrate Xmas with some Houndie friends and plenty of treats! 🎄
She has a double celebration as it is her 7th Birthday today! 🎂

We can tell this gal has been a much loved pet for over 2 years, as she seems just PERFECT!

Bridie headed straight for the Portsea Bed! She is very affectionate and wants to hang with you. Knows how to use a dog door and she just adores her walks. She seems fine with other dogs and is currently fostered with several greyhounds.
Let's get her a home soon! 🏠

While he's laid-back, Ugo still loves a few short walks and bursts of energy during playtime—especially when it comes to his favorite game of ball! 🎾 He’s learning to play fetch with his own twist, bringing the ball back with a wagging tail for more.

Affy has been waiting for a home for over 6 months!🏡

Affagato, or Affy as her friends call her, is a sweet and loving girl who enjoys cuddles and has the cutest teardrop mark on her forehead! She loves her daily walks, is great on a lead, and enjoys the occasional zoomie. After spending so many years in kennels, Affy deserves a warm and loving home where she can relax and enjoy life.

Affy gets along wonderfully with other greyhounds and would love a companion, but she’s also perfectly happy as a solo dog as long as you’re home often. Mornings are her favorite time—she wakes up happy, enjoys a little play, then heads out for her walk before relaxing for the rest of the day.

Racing 2 Rehome Incorporated is a not-for-profit volunteer run organisation, dedicated to the rescuing and rehoming of greyhounds throughout South East Gippsland and Melbourne. Our greyhounds come from Trainers kennels and are immediately fostered in private homes to learn about pet-life. We are completely volunteer run, so we welcome donations to support our work in rehoming as many greyhounds as we can manage. Donations over $2 are tax deductible.
