Everyone I’ve seen doing place and the reason it isn’t working is after people get the command down they fail to start adding adding in 3 things distance distraction and duration.
Distance is being able to send them to their place
Distractions are things like other dogs cats squirrels etc how you achieve the distraction is pretty easy play with there favorite toy while they’re on place without giving it to them see if they’ll jump up another good one is tying your shoes when dogs see you in that submissive position most the time they decide to break and you don’t want that.
Duration is how long they can stay on that place.

What is recall and why is it so important? Ok so recall is how you get your dog to come back to you in my opinion it’s the thing you should be teaching your dog the most. Like I say in the video everytime you take your dog out practice this it’s what leads to getting your dog off leash and reliable. The more distractions you add to it the better like on walks practice recalling them a bunch also remember be exciting or they’re not gonna come to you. See you guys on the next one

Anyone interested in dog training over FaceTime or over zoom? I can help with behavioral issues from excessive barking inside the house, yard reactivity, tearing things up, potty training, crate training plus all the basics like recall, place training, walking nicely on a leash, establishing markers, fetch, tug, frisbee etc the only thing I’d have to do in person is leash reactivity.
