This is Lexie. She is a very loving, 3 year old Beagle - Shepherd mix. She came in with her puppies and is now ready for a loving home. She was raised with kids and is the most gentle, kindest soul ever. She is about 35 lbs, walks on a leash without pulling and greets everyone with a tail wag. Lexie is a wonderful companion.

Tips & Tricks Thursday -

Today I want to provide some information on the great adoption event happening right now in our area and throughout the country.

Clear the Shelters is a nationwide pet adoption and donation campaign that takes place in August each year. The campaign partners with over 1,300 shelters across the United States and Puerto Rico to help animals find new homes. The campaign's goal is to raise awareness about the importance of pet adoption and encourage people to adopt during this time. Shelters often offer reduced or waived adoption fees to make it easier for people to adopt.

There’s a list of five shelters that are participating in our nearby area. You can also scan the QR code for more info.

Where We At Wednesday -

Smoki went on her first real “road trip” this weekend. She is quite a whiner in the car so we were hesitant to take her for more than 30 minutes in the car, but she handled a much longer trip. She is always quiet on the way home!!!

We found a fun dog park for her to play in and she was a very good girl!

This is dear Sadie. She is a 7 year old Golden Retriever - Shepherd mix. She is a big girl, about 90 lbs. She is house trained, walks well on a leash, gentle and easy going. Her family adopted her 3 years ago from the shelter. She has been a house dog living in an apartment, using the elevator to go in and out. A neighbor complained of dog hair and the manager said the dog has to go. Sadie has been well cared for and loved.

Tips & Tricks Thursday - is a reminder how important microchipping your pets is. Today is Check The Chip Day and if you don’t have your pets chipped, head over to OC Animal care on Saturday for a free chip. You can also get your pet chipped September 7 at our local pet fair at the Aliso Viejo Ranch from 9 to 12 PM. And one final reminder, the chip doesn’t help if it does not have current and accurate information so please check with the registration company to be sure they have your correct contact information. Thank you.

🤎 Free microchip clinic for the first 100 dogs and cats
🤎 Limit 2 pets per household; all pets must be 8 weeks of age+
🤎 For safety purposes, all pets must be well-socialized
🤎 Dogs must be on a 6-foot leash or shorter at all times (no retractables)
🤎 Cats must be in a secure pet carrier at all times (no feral traps)

*Attendees must reside in an OC Animal Care contract city. A California ID or photo ID with a utility bill, rental/lease agreement, or similar document providing proof of residency in a contract city needed to participate in this event.

Contract cities include: Anaheim, Brea, Cypress, Fountain Valley, Fullerton, Huntington Beach, Lake Forest, Orange, Placentia, San Juan Capistrano, Santa Ana, Tustin, Villa Park, Yorba Linda, and the County unincorporated areas.
