The black one is a kleptomaniac and yesterday walked past my shells and took a parting gift of 3 of them ever so gently in her mouth. 😂 The black and white one marches to the beat of his own drum and hides stinky poops 💩 where you find them later lol. 😆 Maxy just loves his OG pals. 😄🐕‍🦺🐕🐑

I feel so sad about a Shepherd named Max lost in the woods tonight. Owners looking in this storm. I hope they take care of themselves and a local tracker has also been contacted to help. Max must be extra scared. This is also why I’m hyper vigilant and overprotective of my dog. Even when they have good recall, if spooked they will run away by instinct. 😢

If anyone drives along 539 headed towards near a place called “Hidden Woods” that’s where he was last seen. Keep eyes open. 🙏🏼 🐕

DO NOT Walk your Dogs on Concrete / Asphalt

Look at these numbers... now let's be clear here, these are PAVEMENT temperatures expected...not *actual* AIR temps. The sun beats down on these surfaces, the surfaces hold a lot of solar radiation and this is the result. Walk on grass and dirt.

Paw damage starts within 60 seconds at 125 degrees. PLEASE keep that in mind!!

Enjoy safely but don’t lose your beloved pet this 4th of July! 🐕🐩🦮🐕‍🦺🐈🐈‍⬛ ❌💥🧨 🎆🇺🇸

Make sure your fences are secure, don’t leave your pets outside alone this weekend, secure them in one room where guests won’t be trafficking, use a sound machine or soothing sounds on YouTube, use CBD drops mixed in a favorite treat, rub essential oils from Peaceful Pup behind ears, tire them out with play or engagement early on the 4th.

Cats are usually less scared than dogs but also keep an eye on them.

Here are some tips for dog owners to ensure their pets stay safe and calm during the 4th of July celebrations:

1. Create a Safe Space
Prepare a Quiet Room: Set up a quiet, comfortable space in your home where your dog can retreat if they feel scared or overwhelmed. Include their favorite toys, blankets, and perhaps some calming music to mask the noise of fireworks.
Use a Crate: If your dog feels secure in their crate, make it extra cozy and place it in a room where the noise is less noticeable.

2. Exercise Before Festivities
Long Walks or Play Sessions: Ensure your dog gets plenty of exercise earlier in the day to help tire them out. A tired dog is more likely to remain calm and relaxed.
Mental Stimulation: Engage your dog with puzzle toys or training sessions to help expend their energy.

3. Keep Them Indoors
Stay Inside: Keep your dog indoors during fireworks displays to prevent them from running away if they get scared. Close windows and doors to minimize noise and secure any potential escape routes.
Avoid Bringing Them to Fireworks Shows: Even if your dog is generally calm, the loud noises and crowds can be overwhelming and stressful.

4. Comfort and Distract
Use Calming Products: Consider using products like anxiety wraps, calming collars, or pheromone diffusers to help ease your dog's anxiety.
Provide Distractions: Give your dog something to focus on, like a long-lasting chew toy or a food puzzle, to keep them occupied and distracted from the noise outside.

Additional Tips
Update Identification: Ensure your dog’s ID tags and microchip information are up-to-date in case they do manage to escape.
Consult Your Vet: If your dog has severe anxiety, consult your veterinarian about possible medications or supplements that could help keep them calm during the fireworks.

Need to keep your dog’s #2 regular? Organic pumpkin from Chewy. Sometimes mixed with cooked sweet potato and frozen in an ice cube tray makes dinner easier to mix with kibble and he thinks he’s getting an awesome treat. 🤔😁 🐶🥫🐕

It’s raining in Stafford Township. This is Maze watching the storm vs. Max in his fallout shelter. 🥺

This is his spot for fireworks, rumbling storms, and mortar fire from Ft Dix Warren Grove bombing range.

Our first year of life determines a lifetime of thoughts and fears. The difference IMHO: Maze was adopted as a puppy by one family. Max made his way up from Virginia in a doggie caravan in 2017. Who knows what our precious guy endured his first year.

Telling Max my usual line of “we’ve got a friend coming to fix a house 🏡 today buddy, be a good boy to them.” 👨🏻‍🔧

Plumber gonna give us an outdoor shower woohoo. The dog doesn’t know it yet but that could be his first shower 🧼 🚿 in a while.

Who else has dogs that aren’t too fond of the water 💧 💦 lol? While his two visiting doggie friends swim in the pool. 😁😄

Max joined us at the Union Market & Gallery today for a little outdoor training with Megan Keller from Layin Down The Paw 🐾 Megan is very knowledgeable and is connecting with Max and growing his comfort and confidence level with every session. He’s coming along and so are the humans he lives with. 😁

Our Dog Sitting Story

If you’re in the Albion section of Clifton, NJ and take your dog out on walks near Maplewood Ave. and Cathay Rd. and want to introduce him/her to our dog Max just message us here. Our dog Max is a sweet 2 year old, often timid Black Mouth Cur rescue from Virginia who we adopted after losing Clyde and then Sheba in 2018. He absolutely loves playing with other large non-aggressive dogs, and he respects and is accommodating to small dogs. If you would like to introduce our dogs in the neighborhood feel free to message us here or email [email protected]

We decided to start watching a few well behaved dogs in our home because it’s a win win for us. Max gets a playmate for a few hours and we play with the dogs in our large yard since we are home most of the time. We also have quick veterinary advice since we are close friends with many Veterinary technicians from Oradell Animal Hospital. Talk soon! Max is looking forward to meeting your fur baby. :)

Need a doggie Playcare near Clifton to leave your dog for the day? Give us a ring or text at 201-667-2994 and we will call you back within one hour.
