🌟 Important Announcement: Parade Cancellation 🌟

Dear Lufkin Community,

We regret to announce that this year’s Lufkin Christmas Parade has been cancelled due to unfavorable weather conditions. This decision was not made lightly, but the safety and comfort of our participants, families, and attendees were our top priorities.

Why we had to make this decision:
🎄 Participant Concerns: Over 50% of our participants, many with children, expressed concerns about the forecasted rain and cold temperatures.
🌧️ Weather Impact: With rain and temperatures near 40°F, the conditions were unsafe for families and kids expected to be outside for 4-5 hours. Floats made of materials like paper mâché would have been damaged in the rain.
⏳ Thorough Evaluation: We delayed the decision as long as possible, hoping for better weather, but unfortunately, conditions did not improve.

Looking Ahead:
The great news is that this year’s parade theme will carry over to next year, so the creativity and hard work already put into this year’s plans won’t go to waste!

We want to sincerely thank the City of Lufkin, downtown merchants, and all parade participants for their dedication and preparation. Your efforts make events like this so special, and we can’t wait to celebrate together in 2025!

🌟 Anuncio Importante: Cancelación del Desfile 🌟

Querida comunidad de Lufkin,

Lamentamos anunciar que el Desfile Navideño de Lufkin de este año ha sido cancelado debido a condiciones climáticas desfavorables. Esta decisión no se tomó a la ligera, pero la seguridad y el bienestar de nuestros participantes, familias y asistentes fueron nuestra mayor prioridad.

Por qué tuvimos que tomar esta decisión:
🎄 Preocupaciones de los Participantes: Más del 50% de nuestros participantes, muchos con niños, expresaron preocupaciones sobre las lluvias y las bajas temperaturas pronosticadas.
🌧️ Impacto Climático: Con lluvias y temperaturas cercanas a los 40°F, las condiciones no eran seguras para las familias y los niños que estarían afuera durante 4-5 horas. Las carrozas hechas de materiales como papel maché podrían haberse dañado con la lluvia.
⏳ Evaluación Cuidadosa: Retrasamos la decisión tanto como pudimos, esperando que el clima mejorara, pero lamentablemente, las condiciones no cambiaron.

Mirando al Futuro:
¡La buena noticia es que el tema del desfile de este año se llevará al próximo año! Así que el esfuerzo y la creatividad que se pusieron en los planes de este año no se perderán.

Queremos agradecer sinceramente a la Ciudad de Lufkin, a los comerciantes del centro y a todos los participantes del desfile por su dedicación y preparación. Sus esfuerzos hacen que eventos como este sean tan especiales, y estamos ansiosos por celebrar juntos en 2025.
