We are 100% Non-Profit and solely depend on YOUR DONATIONS! Blackjack Animal Rescue & Catahoula Connection is a 501c3 organization. Our primary mission is to rescue catahoulas, catahoula mixes and other breed animals from kill shelters in the southeast. We are an all breed rescue currently utilizing foster homes. Our primary goal is to reduce the deaths and suffering of animals that we are aware o

f in our sphere of influence. This is accomplished by providing rescue and spay/neuter, as well as providing needed vet care. We are always in need of foster homes, fostering saves lives. There are 9 puppies here, 1 was adopted today at the shelter. They have had one set of shots and are probably at least 8 weeks old now. Who can foster a couple of pups each? They call them lab and catahoula mix which is one of the best mixes ever. Shreveport LA and we can get them moving eastward! 4 went into foster today, so once they get fosters, we can move out 4 more.

We have already selected 3 more to help get out of a kill shelter for the New Year, 2025! Be the force that helps make it happen and also, fostering is so rewarding, you will want to do it more often!

A very heartwarming story for the holidays! Minnie was in a high kill shelter in western TN back in early 2023. She also had heartworms and no one was looking to adopt from there, let alone an adult with heartworms. She had been there 8 months and was up for euthanasia, and the volunteers had protected her as long as they could. They contacted us and we knew right away that she was going to need us. It's that moment in time when you know that this particular dog is the one that you should help! So, we found her a foster, transported her to Indiana where a wonderful foster named Larry H. helped her socialize and mature and found her a great home. She got her heartworm treatment, thanks Shelley M. for taking her in for her treatments, you both ROCK! And once she was adopted, she is now living the wonderful forever life that shelter dogs can only hope for. She has a friend, Ozzie Bones, another Blackjack Alumni and the love of her new mom who spares no cost for her birthdays and doggie day care! This gal hit the doggie lottery jackpot!

Roxy Roxy is ideal for a person or family looking for a friendly, young dog. She hasn’t experienced the trauma of being abandoned or living in a shelter. So she loves and trusts people. She is energetic and needs play time. At five months of age, Roxy is very trainable because she is eager to please, and responds well to treats. She already knows basic commands and plays fetch. Walks well on leash, wearing a harness. House-trained. Because she loves attention, she suffers from separation anxiety, so will do best in a household where she isn’t alone for long periods. Another doggy family member would be great. Roxy sleeps quietly through the night in a crate in our bedroom. Roxy has had her vaccines and is heartworm negative. She is unaltered, so we’ll be setting up her surgery appointment. She weighs 28 pounds and is still growing. Roxy comes from Louisiana. She was living with two young boys who loved her, but weren’t able to provide the food and other resources needed. Roxy is sweet and beautiful—truly a gem of a puppy. A wonderful addition to your household!

June in her foster home after being dumped in an animal shelter in NC and surviving a parvo outbreak and being locked down in the shelter. She went on to finding her forever home! This is how it works! Temporary you give of yourself and they find a home!
