It’s been a very difficult year, the news around the globe have been frightening to an extent I can’t even begin to describe. It might sound weird, but the cat community is giving me a bit of an escape from the real world and I’m immensely grateful for that. I thank each and every one of you that engaged with my content, wrote me messages, sent me pictures of their own cats and especially everyone who supported worthy causes, donated to animal welfare organizations or got active themselves doing TNR, fostering etc. ⠀
⠀
I wanna single out a few organizations that have been close to my heart this year, namely & .strays (the company behind the highest quality cat food you’ll ever find that systematically donates to cat organizations worldwide and their partner doing TNR, managing adoptions and raising awareness).⠀
⠀
, which is run by one of the nicest persons on this planet, saving hundreds of cats a year almost by herself! She truly is an inspiration!⠀

& I also found a soft spot for pigeons this year after seeing an injured pigeon on the train tracks that was saved by , really amazing people dedicating their lives to these poor souls hated by society 💔 ⠀

I rarely post personal things (actually, never), but I just donated 38cm (15 inch) of my hair and thought maybe there are a few of my followers who could imagine doing that too. ⠀

Although most hair donation organizations share one common goal, each place serves different groups with slightly different missions and varying donation processes. I chose one that actually uses donated hair to make wigs for kids and young people experiencing the devastating effects of hair loss – mostly after chemotherapy.⠀

If you're someone who usually grows your hair out for years and then cuts it short, maybe wait a few more months, if you can, and donate it too. ⠀

As all of you know, the Russian invasion of Ukraine did not only create horrid humanitarian disasters, but a crisis in animal care as well. Wild animals, pets, shelter animals, so-called „farm“ animals – all of them are panicked, wounded, sick, starving…⠀

Команда художників з України 🇺🇦]] and .things are run by a team of illustrators from Ukraine that are working to help animals affected by the war. They make custom digital portraits of people and/or their pets, and direct a part of the profit from sales to shelters and vet centers for homeless animals (you can find all the reports on Команда художників з України 🇺🇦]] or on their official website – all links in their bio).⠀

They plan to engage in a large-scale construction of enclosures for shelters. This is essential now due to the constant intake of evacuated animals, but they need some help. 😔⠀

I‘m so so so happy to announce that we‘ve been nominated for this year‘s German Petfluencer Awards 🥳 This is a very big thing for us! As most of you know, I started this account a couple of years ago with the intention to show that rescue cats are just as cute, loving and fun as any other cats. Not in our wildest dreams did we think that Momo and Cleo would become this popular. To think that a while back they were all alone on the streets, unwanted and sick, makes my heart ache. But at the same time I‘m so happy that not only are they extremely loved now, but putting a smile on so many people‘s faces as well!⠀

I‘m Annie, 29 years old from Hamburg, Germany. We adopted Momo after our first cat got hit by a car. Momo was found on the streets with a gift ribbon around her neck - either she was an unwanted present or she ran away and nobody cared enough to go look for her 😔 we adopted Cleo a few months later from the same shelter. She was found on a parking lot with a completely crushed hind leg when she was 10 weeks old 🥺 ⠀

🔈HOW TO DEAL WITH SCARED PETS: This happens basically every time it rains. She meows, pants and trembles for hours. I usually close all windows, put on some music and lie down next to her on a blanket. Most of the times, she stops shaking when I’m with her. Sometimes it doesn’t do anything though and she leaves to hide somewhere else ☺️ Do you have a scaredy cat at home? If you do, how do you comfort her/him? ♥️
