Through the years, we've taken pride in operating a very clean, healthy, cozy and loving facility for all kitties who have come through our doors. For over five years we took in and helped over 500 cats & kittens find homes. That number would have been even greater, but in 2009 our facility turned into an "adult" only Shelter & Adoption Facility focusing our efforts on adult cats which are more di
fficult to get accepted into no-kill shelters and are more difficult to find homes for. We provided a place for rescues and private individuals to bring adult cats and we also pulled many adult cats from the Municipal Shelter. We're proud to say we had a very good adoption rate! :) In August, 2011 the Shelter was forced to move because the building was being sold. Due to the remoteness of the new location, we found homes for all our adoptable kitties and the Shelter & Adoption Facility transformed into a Shelter-Sanctuary for our un-adoptable kitties. We were still located in Plainview, NY, but we are not open to the Public because we would be highly susceptible to having cats abandoned at our doorstep daily. Another 5 years later, in July 2016, our Shelter had to move again because the land where our facility was located was being excavated to make way for a huge new community development. Needless to say another move was absolutely stressful, but thankfully our new location is permanent and we never have to worry about another move again. After 10 years, we said "good-bye" to Plainview and now we're in Deer Park, NY. Please consider becoming a recurring donor for just $10 per month. This is one of the hardest posts we ever had to display in over 17 years.
Our hearts are completely crushed by the loss of our most amazing resident ever ... handsome, sweet, loving, funny "PJ".
He was loved by every person and every kitty at the Shelter. Even the staff at the Vet. office fell in love with him.
PJ was diagnosed with a rare heart condition earlier this year and was on medicine. Sadly, PJ had a heart attack and succumbed to his illness. Thankfully he was not alone when this happened, but it was a devastating moment.
To say he will be missed is truly an understatement. There are no words to express how great this loss is to our Shelter. He touched everyone and every kitty. The Shelter will never be the same without his presence.
PJ was rescued on 9-1-2011 at approximately 3.5 yrs. old. He has brought so much joy to us for 12 yrs. We are truly grateful to have had the privilege to know and care for this amazing boy.
We will always remember this incredibly, great kitty "PJ".
RIP our dearest, sweet friend. We love you forever. ❤❤❤

It's a triple heartbreak for 3 of our long-time residents. 💔
Handsome Jasper, Jordan and Hunter all went to Kitten Heaven today and to say we are sad is an understatement. 😿😿😿
In memory of these sweet boys, we're hoping to get some help with their memorial expenses. Every dollar donated helps us help another one of our resident kitties ... whether it's for an illness or a dental procedure, your generosity is very much appreciated.
Rest in peace sweet Jasper, Jordan and Hunter we will surely miss you!! And thank you to all the kind, generous people who donate towards their memorial expenses. 🐾❤️
Brokenhearted ... our beautiful resident "Wilson" had to go to Kitty Heaven today. 😿😿😿😿
We rescued Wilson from an Industrial area 4 years ago, when he was about 5 years old.
He had lost a little weight recently and was breathing a bit erratic. An exam today ruled out a heart murmur, but x-rays showed fluid in his chest and the diagnose was cancer and his condition would only worsen. Wilson was sent to Kitty Heaven while under anesthesia this morning. We are truly heartbroken by the loss of him.
We wish we would have taken more photos, especially in our outdoor area, to show off his beautiful crystal blue eyes, which you really can't see.
He was a really good boy who went from being semi-feral to friendly enough to enjoy being petted and he loved his treats that he expected everyday. He had several kitty friends who will miss him dearly. Here is a photo of him with some pals.
RIP sweet Wilson, we will never forget you.

This 5 year old boy was living in a neighborhood, un-neutered with severe dental issues and swollen, ulcerated, bleeding feet. 😿
No one ever did anything for him. 😿
He is now safe with us and after almost $1k in medical care, he is on the mend and has joined us as a permanent resident. 🙂
No more struggling for this sweet, mellow feral who we've named "GB" for "Good Boy". 🙂

Our 13 yr old Residents Lucas and Sasha who have been with us over 11 years (Lucas) and 12 years (Sasha) .... have a permanent, loving HOME ... in NEW HAMPSHIRE with one of our sweet Volunteers from over 12 years ago!!
We connected last month and then drove Lucas and Sasha to their new home.
We wanted to make sure things were working out well before posting this great news!!
Have a happy life Lucas and Sasha, our wonderful, longtime friends. ❤

We have been so caught up in kitty projects, that although we said our good-byes to these precious ones on their sad day, we never gave them the recognition on our FB page as we always have in the past. ❤❤
In the last 6 months, these beautiful boys and girls went to Kitty Heaven. 💔💔
We miss them dearly and hope they are resting peacefully and playing with their friends who have gone before them. ❤❤

Footprints in the snow is a sad reminder that there are many kitties out there... both young and old.... struggling to get by. :(
If you think a cat might be living under your shed or deck, etc., please make the effort to shovel a small opening so they don't get trapped under there when we have a lot of snow.
Also.. please keep some cat food and a disposable dish in your vehicle at all times... if you see a kitty, call out to get their attention and quickly crack a can or shake a bag of food and just leave the food if they're not approachable.
When you're gone, they will come back to eat it! That meal might be what helps that kitty stay alive until they come across another kind person like you. :)
The outdoor life is not easy for cats... especially during the winter months.... they rely on the kindness of people to see them through when wildlife is scarce.... so please do what you can to help them get by.

A loving family opened their hearts and home to this beautiful boy "Jackson" (now named "Jax")!!
We are SO grateful for the Family, our Volunteer and to those who shared our post, which gave Jax a second chance at a better life!
Just two weeks ago this sweet boy was struggling out in the cold after being tossed away.
Now look at him!! 😻

Urgent:
Beautiful 1 year old boy in need of a forever home.
This handsome fella has been trying to eat at outside someone's house, but a bully cat that resides on the property kept chasing him away.
The homeowner does not want to put food elsewhere on the property, because the bully cat already drives his dog crazy.
So we trapped this boy that we are calling "Jackson", thinking he was another a feral living outside.
But to our surprise, after just two days in his cage, we could pet him!
Apparently he was one of MANY kittens brought home last year during the height of Covid and this kitty was NOT neutered, so when his urine became concentrated (and super stinky!) at about 8 months old, his family must have thrown him out!! Truly so sad!! 😿
This young boy ended up having to fend for himself for months after being comfortable in a home.
Jackson is now neutered and tested negative for FeLV/FIV and his urine is not stinky anymore! 😸😸
Is there someone out there willing to give this handsome boy a second chance at a loving home?
Since he has only been with us a few days, we don't know the full extent of his friendliness, other than he let us pet him.
As always, we would help set up a cage for him to start in (if you don't have a small spare room) and we will supply his food and litter for 30 days.
And as always, if he doesn't work out, for any reason, we will absolutely take him back!!
We hope to find him a home as soon as possible, so he doesn't have to wait too long to start his acclimation process over again.

Our Story
Our 501(c)3 non-profit Shelter & Adoption Center opened in Plainview, NY on May 20, 2006. Our facility is run by all Volunteers, operates solely on donations and receives no government funding. Through the years, we've taken pride in operating a very clean, healthy, cozy and loving facility for all the kitties who have come through our doors. And through the years we’ve helped hundreds of cats & kittens find homes.
In 2009 our facility turned into an "adult" only Shelter & Adoption Facility focusing our efforts on adult cats which are more difficult to get accepted into no-kill shelters and are more difficult to find homes for. We provided a place for rescues and private individuals to bring adult cats and we also pulled many adult cats from the Municipal Shelter. We're proud to say we had a very good adoption rate! :)

Our Shelter moved to another location in Plainview, NY and was operating as a “Shelter-Sanctuary” for kitties that are not adoptable and would otherwise be living on the streets struggling to survive. Through rescue efforts, occasionally a very friendly kitty will cross our path and we will spare no effort to find them a wonderful home.
In June 2016, just after our 10 year Anniversary, our Shelter had to move again because the land where our facility was located was being excavated to make way for a huge new community development. This was a tremendous undertaking and absolutely stressful, but thankfully we found our forever home in Deer Park, NY to continue our mission and we never have to worry about moving again. Our Shelter-Sanctuary houses adult cats in a cage-free, fun, loving environment. We also care for colony of cats outside our facility.
Besides operating the Shelter-Sanctuary 365 days a year, we do TNR projects, Rescue work and many Special Projects. We do whatever we can, whenever we can to help our feline friends and the people who love them.
