Thank you for the huge compliment Geno Reddick! Xena is an amazing dog and it’s a privilege to get to work with her!
“Xena working with Good Boy Professional Dog Training…Amelia Wheeler has a gift with dogs…reminds me of Buster McAfee my grandfather he could train hunting dogs better than anyone I have ever known.” Geno Reddick
Lady passed her certification test this past week. We can’t express how proud we are of both Lady and her Mom/Handler, Afton! You both put in so much hard work and it is so rewarding to see the happy faces on all of the kids at the school when they see Lady. Great job you two and thank you for letting us be part of your journey!❤️
There are agility obstacles to be found almost anywhere. Agility obstacles are great mental stimulation for your dog! At the end of Charlie’s morning walks he loves to weave through the poles in the parking lot on the way back to the car.
Next time you take your dog for a walk try to find a simple obstacle and teach them how to weave through, jump over, or walk through. It will help them to engage their brain more making them more relaxed overall when they’re finished with the walk.
Nanook wanted to be very clear with us on his feelings about fireworks. An opinion straight from the dog’s mouth.
“THE AFTER”. If you saw our “BEFORE” video, then you know about Buckwheat’s vehicle chasing problem. After working with him on our first session, a local neighbor was kind enough to drive by several times in his truck—one of Buckwheat’s favorite vehicles to chase. As the video shows, not only did Buckwheat NOT chase the truck, but he also avoided the road altogether—not even looking at the truck. All training sessions are important, but car chasing is a life/death situation so we’re very pleased with Buckwheat’s progress so far.
VIDEO ONE/“The BEFORE training” video: Meet Buckwheat. Buckwheat is a dog with a serious vehicle chasing problem. Not only does he CHASE vehicles, but he also likes to GET IN FRONT of them. No bueno. The vehicle in this video happens to be a tractor, but Buckwheat does not discriminate; he also chases cars and REALLY loves to chase trucks. We will soon post VIDEO TWO/“The AFTER training” (session number one) video footage. Stay tuned...
One of our clients had this castle built for her two dogs...really cool!
A fun slow motion recall video. Recall is the most important command and Amari is performing it with a lot of enthusiasm. We had some fun with graduation at group class this evening😊
This video is rather profound in that this was Bailey the dog's FIRST session learning the "Place" command 😊. In the past, Bailey has had some anxiety issues, including an almost OCD habit of patrolling the window. Knowing a cue like "Place" is not only advantageous for managing our dog's behavior (like when someone visits) but it also gives our dog a rewarding "go-to" behavior that is VERY helpful in reducing anxiety from not knowing what to do in certain situations. Way to go Bailey and mum😁👍
One of our clients sent us this video of her dog, Gracie, absolutely nailing a solid “Stay” command. Quite often, our dogs will break their “Stay” when we turn our backs to them and walk away. Not so with Gracie!😀. Her mum is able to walk away, traverse a deck and return from a different direction—all with Gracie anchoring herself to her assigned location 👍. Also, great energy from mum when treating and releasing Gracie from her assignment. Nicely done ladies!! 🏆
ZERO PRETENSE HERE!! Unlike human beings, our dogs can expertly read our energy and know where we are physically, mentally, and emotionally—often WELL BEFORE we recognize it ourselves. While it may work with other human beings, there is no such thing as putting up a front toward our dogs. If we are sad, they know it. If we are mad, they know it. Even when we’re ill, they know it. So keep it real!..Let go of your inhibitions, allow your inner child to surface and appreciate the furry four-legged miracle in your life ❤️🐾😀. In the video, Nanook and Papa Wade exchange stories from the day’s events in a spirit of love and mutual respect.
Our dogs coming to us when called (the “Recall” command) is THE most important command we can teach our dogs. It is the cue that can save their lives. In this video, little Miss Oakley does a fantastic job in reacting almost instantly—the reaction we will all need from our dogs if ever they are in danger! This type of obedience doesn’t happen overnight. It takes repetitive practice, patience and commitment by us humans. In this case, our hats go off to Oakley’s Mum and family for doing their homework 😀 👍 👌 🐕 🐾
