Palm Desert, CA: This is a bit of wing and a prayer …. These two 10 year old beauties, bonded brother & sister, are looking for a new home since their owner passed away.

They are super snugglers and even relax for belly rubs. Cooper, the tabby, has stable diabetes and needs his insulin twice daily. It is easy-peasy since he is a good, good boy for it because he knows he gets a treat after.

Putting this out to the universe in hopes of a serendipitous connection to someone who would welcome these darlings into their family.

A key to multicat harmony is to have enough resources spread throughout your cat's environment to avoid competition and intimidation. In many multicat households, the cats have great relationships and are comfortable sharing some or all resources, but in other households, having to share leads to competition and intimidation. Spreading resources so that they are available in multiple locations (such as having litter boxes spread throughout the home) may help ease tensions. The availability of resources also applies to things such as resting areas, water bowls, elevated areas, and in some cases, feeding stations.

It's important that you observe your multicat family to identify areas of tension so you can address those things early.

🐈‍⬛ Black Cat Appreciation Day is more than a feel-good holiday — it’s also a reminder of a persistent challenge in animal welfare.

Research confirms that black cats face two significant disadvantages in shelters:
• Lower adoption rates
• Higher euthanasia rates

This “Black Cat Bias” (and broader “Dark Cat Syndrome”) has cultural roots — from centuries-old superstitions to subtle visual preferences — and it can affect how quickly cats find homes. In some cases, it even impacts the veterinary care they receive after adoption.

Our Trends article dives into Robert Carini’s study of nearly 8,000 cats in an urban Kentucky shelter and explores ways to counteract this bias, from better photography to reframing public perception.

Today’s the perfect day to challenge myths and celebrate black cats for what they truly are: loving, unique, and deserving of excellent care.

We've recently been receiving emails from PetFinder indicating potential interest for cats who have already been adopted.

Upon investigation, we discovered that cats - who had been promoted for adoption, but had been updated as adopted - were still being promoted on PetFinder - and that we were unable to delete them.

Upon further investigation, we discovered that, in June, PetFinder experienced a system bug (associated with the introduction of a new feature) and that many users were experiencing unusual behaviour.

As we continue to work to have adopted cats removed from PetFind, we apologize to any potential adopters who may be inconvenienced by this situation.

NEW Foster Challenge….

For anyone seeing this post, we’d like to present the challenge to recruit one NEW foster. Can it be done?

That is, someone willing to house and care for an animal short-term (2 weeks to 2 months), who hasn’t participated in this before.

It can be a tall challenge to find a NEW foster, but there are many who care about the fate of shelter animals in need. It takes many willing to offer that temporary stepping stone to save more lives.

Please DM if fosters are identified.

Our Story

Our mission is to support municipal shelters to help reduce and eliminate the unnecessary euthanasia of cats in the shelter. To achieve this, our priority is to rescue cats and kittens, who are facing the risk of potential euthanasia. Since our inception, we have saved over 1,000 cats.

We have a policy of always honoring adoption returns (owner surrender of cats adopted from ForeverMeow), however, we do not have the capacity to assist the general public in taking owner surrenders. If you wish to rehome a cat, we suggest first checking with the adoption agency where you adopted the cat and/or using Adopt A Pet’s rehome a pet website at: https://rehome.adoptapet.com/

Please note, we currently have limited ability to field questions from the public to provide advice and assistance. Please check out our frequently asked questions page on our website at: http://forevermeow.org/index.php?page=help We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, so donations may be tax deductible to you.
