Many of you know Saana-Banana from my classes ...... puppy whisperer, kid entertainer and demo dog that does pretty much anything for anybody that has food :-).

Hopefully there are babies growing ...... we will know more in a few weeks, ultrasound scheduled for 2/20!

Once again! It’s important to research the breed you are interested in and then the bloodlines you want to purchase a puppy from ……. This dog for example is a real working dog that would be a challenge for anyone that wants a couch potato!! He clearly needs a job and he is damn good at it, too!!!

Proč přehnaně nezatěžovat štěňata a dospívající psy? Už delší dobu mnoho chovatelů a trenérů tvrdí, že by se se štěňatama nemělo sportovat do uzavření růstových plotének.

A co je to růstová ploténka? Růstová ploténka je část kosti u rostoucího psa, jejímž účelem je prodlužování kosti a tím celé končetiny. Tímto způsobem psi rostou. V určitém věku, v závislosti na plemeni psa, se růstové ploténky uzavírají.

Prudkými nárazy při skocích, zejména pak z auta/gauče/postele v kombinaci s klouzavým povrchem nebo i nekoordinovanou chůzí z/do schodů může dojít ke zlomenině zahrnující i růstovou ploténku, následnému uzavření růstové ploténky a souvisejícímu nefyziologickému vývoji končetiny. Sportovní kariéra psa může skončit ještě než začne.

To však neznamená, že budete vaše štěně držet ve zlaté kleci bez pohybu. Správný pohyb je velice důležitý. Nechte psa chodit vlastním tempem, nepřehánějte délku procházek a doma se zaměřte na cvičení propriorecepce a koordinace namísto síly a flexibility.

Be aware of the risk and keep and eye on your dog whenever they are outside in the yard !

This is one of the reasons why we do not like invisible fences for our adoptions:

This little guy got out of his invisible fence...no doubt chasing a squirrel that was outside the boundary. He managed to fight off the coyotes that tried to kill him.
The shock collar around his neck had prevented his return to his home and yard, so he went back into the woods to lay down to die. His owner was determined to find him. When he was found he was pretty torn up with a temp of 94°F.
Invisible fencing is Not going to keep animals, or other threats out of your yard.
If your dog runs through the barrier in pursuit of a critter, he's going to get corrected by that collar if he tries to get back home.... Please reconsider invisible fencing. People may say that they have been using them for years without issue.
However, it only takes once

Karen started brushing Saana during class and had already gotten out quite a bit of coat out. This is what I got out this afternoon in less than an hour…… The bliss of owning a German shepherd dog lol.

Hello all! Remember when I told you that it’s important that you dog gets used to a muzzle? Well my male has a wound in his hock that he feels the need to tend to ALL THE TIME!!! He has been wearing a cone the past week but has forgive out how to maneuver around it to still get to the bandage. As of today he will have to live in a muzzle whenever unsupervised so that he can heal. Thankfully he is used to one and clearly doesn’t mind much …… although he might be plotting how to kill me in my sleep 🤔

Find dog friends that your dog gets along with and have you dog interact with them on a regular basis or find a good day care ……. Dog parks should be called “disease infested fight Clubs” !!
