Is this a hot dog or is this dog just hot?🐶

Summer is really knocking on our doors, and I know your dogs are keeping you up with their heavy panting at 4am!

Summer cuts are in this season y’all!
Going a length or two shorter on dogs who grow hair can help cool them down quicker. For dogs who have double coated fur: a nice de-shed and trim to help air flow!

My dms are always open for pet parents who want advice what length is best for their pet, and what we can do to keep their dog cool & fluffy at the same time!

We’re all a little forgetful at times, but let’s not forget what’s MOST important… bringing our dogs in to get pampered after playing with their bffs of course. 😌🥰

Happy mothers day weekend to all moms, and a special shout out to my second mom who’s always making time for others in her community. 🥹🫶🏼

Our employees raised funds over the month of April to donate to Salina Animal Services to help offset the cost of spay/neutering for community members. A few lucky employees got to meet sweet Poppy when dropping off the donation!

Happy Monday!!!

This is a sweet boy that I’ve seen a couple times now for a haircut, and a bath inbetween.
His parents do a fabulous job of keeping his coat clean & free of tangles and he went almost 3 months without needing a full body groom!

Doodles get a bad rep for being “matted” but I absolutely love the doodles that I’ve been seeing here at Woofs. The pet parents & dogs have been such a joy to work with!

“I’m sorry, I think I’m gonna have to see some ID for that “pupcup!””

Today was my first time grooming Prince, and he was a perfect statue for his entire groom.

His family requested a short cut to keep stickers from getting caught in his coat, and a teddy bear head to make sure he still looks cute and fluffy! You can definitely tell that he’s overgrown with how heavy ears and muzzle look in the before picture, so I was determined to lift & shape his head as much as I could into a more flattering look.

Personally, I think this haircut turned this 7 year old dog back into a puppy.

My sweet request dog Jordy, followed me to Woofs and he loved it there!!! He’s been having the best time at Woofs with me and I’m so thankful to see him every time!

Loki, and Remi are siblings who get along so well together! Remi is slightly older, and was absolutely perfect and calm for the entire groom. Loki, is still a puppy, and is still very new to grooming!

He was very afraid of almost every part of the grooming process, so we took things very slowly for him, and dropped the service from a full groom to a bath and brush.

It’s extremely important not to overwhelm puppies and force them to get groomed when they aren’t ready, as it 100% can make them more afraid in the future. Thankfully mom was very understanding and already knew this and we did start some desensitizing training with Loki in preparation for his next groom.

Loki was also terrified of being in a kennel without his sister, so I let him watch her while she got her haircut, and it put him right at ease.

I love Woofs for this reason! Being able to feel at ease because my puppy clients get to nap by their sibling, instead of stressing in a kennel is a huge weight lifted off of my shoulders as a groomer. I never want a dog to feel scared while in my care, but I also want him to be 100% safe.

I’m hoping the snooze he got will encourage him to feel comfortable in the future!

Before & afters on this sweet Aussie mix! ♡

Outline trims are so helpful for double coated breeds with long hair on their back end, legs, or underline. Trimming this excess hair helps pets avoid tangles in their coat, and keeps their coats from carrying twigs, leaves, bugs, or stickers!

This is Rocky, I’ve been grooming him for the last couple months, and he is easily one of my favorites!

Rocky is a very energetic dog, but in the best way. When he’s not on the table, he’s expressive and playful, but as soon as I start working on him, he’s a perfect angel.

I got excited after his groom and took him out into the hallway to go back to doggy daycare with his friends before getting “after” pictures of him! I tried to take some in the hallway but he kept staring at his daycare door waiting for it to open.

Let’s be real, could you ever say no while looking this dog in the eyes?

I'm so impressed by how well Yoshi did on only our second session together. Yoshi was pampered with a de-shed bath and teeth brushing today! I was told that at times she could be wiggly for her nails, but both times I’ve seen her here at Woofs, she has been an angel.

This is Rosie & Scottie, and they stayed overnight in our vacation suites!

At Woofs, we do occasionally come across dogs that need special accommodations. For most dogs, the accommodations are related to anxiety or age related discomforts, like needing extra help when standing, not being able to jump, or needing to be let out to potty often!

For Rosie & Scottie, an accommodation was absolutely necessary and very easily granted! Scottie may suffer from seizures when overwhelmed or anxious, and allowing him to watch his sister, Rosie, be groomed was a small change that helped him feel more at ease!
