Iris ~ Available...Iris is a lovely, sweet, black and tan female German Shepherd Dog.
She is approximately 4 years old and currently weighs around 50 pounds. She needs to gain a few pounds and her ideal weight will be around 60 pounds.

She is an active, playful girl with a moderate energy level. She is good with other dogs but needs a family with no cats.

For more information or to request an adoption application, please email us at [email protected]

ADOPTION:
Training (for both the dog AND the family) increases the probability of a successful adoption. We feel strongly that training is an essential part of responsible dog ownership and we now require training for every dog placed through the MTGSR program.
The cost of adoption is $500 which includes the $250 adoption fee and a training fee (payable to the trainer) of $250 is due at the time of adoption.
For the adoption fee, the dog will be spayed/neutered, current on all vaccinations, current on heartworm/flea-tick preventatives and microchipped.
The training fee will include a plan tailored to that specific dog and that dog's needs (obedience training, behavior modification, etc.) and typically includes three private training sessions.

PLEASE NOTE: Our philosophy is "Rescue locally, place locally" which means we primarily pull dogs from shelters in the Nashville area AND we place dogs within a one-hour drive of Nashville. If you are outside of the Nashville area, please consider adopting a homeless dog in your local community.

***PLEASE SHARE*** Many dogs are afraid of fireworks. Please remember to keep your pets inside and safe on July 4th, as well as the days before and after the holiday when people in local neighborhoods may be using their own fireworks.

Please take your dogs outside on a leash, even if you have a fenced yard (scared dogs have been known to jump a fence even in the presence of their owners).
Make sure your dog is wearing a collar with an ID tag with your phone number and ensure your contact information on their microchip is current.

More dogs go missing on this holiday than any other day!!

The entire MTGSR team congratulates Anjie and MTGSR Alumna Zoey (2014) on their incredible agility careers. What a special pair! It is our mission to match dogs with the homes that are the best fit for them, and boy, did Zoey strike gold.

Zoey earned a spot in the Westminster agility finals, a triumph for a rescue dog.

Hope is out of surgery and is resting comfortably.

We will share more photos and updates tomorrow when we hear from Blue Pearl in the morning.

The x-ray shows that all metacarpal bones were broken. All first phalanx bones were broken. The second phalanx of the second digit was gone completely. The ulna was broken and the collateral ligament below it holding the lateral side of the metacarpal joint was avulsed so the joint was coming apart.

We're so incredibly grateful to you for your generous donations. Your support made it possible for us to help this beautiful girl.

WARNING....GRAPHIC PHOTO.
(We tried to make if so the full photo would only be visible if you click on it but not sure that it worked).

UPDATE: Hope is in surgery now. We will post an update shortly.

PLEASE HELP "HOPE"
We are trying to help save this beautiful, one-year-old female German Shepherd. Blue Pearl contacted me a few moments ago to see if we can save her after an incident with a lawnmower. Her family doesn't have the funds to perform the front limb amputation that she needs to survive and the family has agreed to surrender her to MTGSR.
Please consider making a donation by following this link to our website:
https://www.mtgsr.org/donate
Her estimated surgery costs will be $3,000. No amount is too small. Thank you in advance for your help in saving this sweet girl.

You can also make a donation directly to Blue Pearl. Follow the link below, then click "Pay My Bill", Select "Tennessee" then click "Pay My Bill" under the Murfreesboro location. Enter "HOPE" for the pet's name and her patient ID # is 137020.
