I posted this once, and now it is gone. I do not understand the workings of Facebook. This is Jed, a 5 month old Catahoula puppy. He visited when his Lady came to pick up a dog coat for him, and we had an impromptu photo session of maybe 5 minutes. He really couldn't care less about me, and was just being a puppy interested in all he could see and hear, but I was able to get a few good photos when I made some interesting sounds. And yes, he was wearing a leash to keep him safe, but I removed it in the processing.

Last week we had the good fortune to visit K-9 Orthotics & Prosthetics Inc to learn about prosthetics and braces are made and learn how to cast in order to bring this to our pets in the Yukon. Thanks to the awesome staff and canine models who facilitated our learning.

Good morning We are happy to introduce Jed, who joined our family this past weekend. He is a Catahoula and 11 weeks old.

Other exciting news, we are currently working on a website and will be bringing products such as inflatables for balance training and balance boards, Help ‘em up harnesse, splints, and braces , as well as glucosamine products.

Also, due to the addition to our family, we will have fewer appointments over the summer months.

However, please don’t hesitate to reach out for questions or to request any products even prior to the opening of our website.

Spring is in the air and our fur children are getting restless.
*no more booties (Yay!!)
*no more jackets (Howlllll!)
*exciting puddles and mud puddles (more baths).

Soon the grass will be growing, the hikes and bikes will begin.
Is your pup ready??

Just like in humans, 0-100 kph can cause injury. Take the time to build your dogs strength and endurance:
*gradually increase the duration of your walks/hikes/runs.
*warm up your dog before more intense exercise to prevent injury.
*take the time to stretch out their muscles after exercise.

For those major athletes or senior dogs who require a bit more to recover or get that 'spring' into their step, consider supplementation. We use CT Support Plus with incredible results.

HAPPY SPRING!!

Happy day after Valentine's Day everybody. It was a bit of a blowout for us. Our fur child was acting weird, out of the ordinary. He wouldn't settle down, he kept pacing, showing behaviours that were rather odd, including just standing at the door but not wanting to go outside when we opened it. These were all clues that there was something wrong.

So I started to check him out and noticed that when I touched his side, he would yelp. The challenge for us is that Rhodesian Ridgebacks are hard to read and extremely sensitive. So was this overacting or was there truly something wrong. I noticed he had a wound on his chest wall and watched it over the day.

Finally, I reached out to the vet as the behaviours remaind odd and I wasn't convinced it was just a superficial wound.

Thanks to All Paws Vet clinic who checked him out. They sedated my poor guy, flushed his FOUR puncture wounds and provided antibiotics and antiinflammatories to fight the start of an infection and to alleviate his discomfort.

Today he is so much more himself and way more comfortable.

The lessons for today that I want to share are the following:

* know your dogs behaviours and check it out when there is a change. Dogs will definitely tell you when they are in pain.

* don't wait to call your vet. When in doubt check in out. Nothing is too minor.

*. appreciate your dogs health care team. I can not thank Candace enough for the care and concern and quick action.
