Some of you may have noticed our new logo, and I wanted to take a moment to share the deeper meaning behind it. The image above represents both Akuna and I, a bond that has been incredibly special.

The infinity sign holds a lot of significance for me. It’s not just a symbol of endless possibilities or infinite love. For me, it’s a nod to my Métis heritage and culture, which is deeply important to me and something I hold close to my heart. The infinity symbol is also a prominent feature in the Métis flag.

Incorporating this symbol into our business was a natural choice, as it beautifully aligns with our mission. Our slogan, “teaching owners how to build an ♾️ relationship with their best friend.” It’s all about creating an unbreakable, lifelong bond between you and your dog, one built on trust, understanding, and love.

Did you know there’s a big difference between service dogs and emotional support dogs in Ontario? Service dogs are trained to perform specific tasks for people with disabilities, giving them the independence they need (psychiatric, allergy alert dog, blind dog, etc.). Meanwhile, emotional support dogs provide comfort just by being there, but they don’t have the same public access rights. Always remember to respect these hardworking pups and their handlers! 💛

This is your reminder that bringing your reactive dog to the dog park so they can get exposed to more dogs isn’t going to fix your dog’s reactivity.

And if you bring your dog to the dog park and they have their tail tucked, ears back, giving whale eyes, your dog is most likely not enjoying itself!

If you want to see a transformation in your dog’s reactivity behavior, look into their breed! Fulfill their mental and physical needs, play tug, purchase a flirt pole, have FUN with your dog!! Build your relationship with your dog! It will take time, but you WILL get there!

Hello! My name is Sienna and I am the owner and founder of Tecumseh Pointers. We take a special approach combining balanced training, relationship based training, and holistic training and combine it into one! Whether you just brought a puppy home or you’re dealing with excessive barking, we are here to help.

I started this business in 2023 from the inspiration of my own dog, Akuna. I couldn’t ask for a better dog, or best friend💗

I have been working with dogs for over 3 years including working as a vet assistant at a local animal hospital! I am canine first aid and cpr certified aswell as understanding canine communication certified. I have learned most of my training methods by working with the hundreds of dogs in the past couple of years and observing how they communicate with each other. I have also worked and learned from some of the best dog trainers in Ontario!

I can’t wait to work with all of your pups and to help you build you and your best friend’s relationship! 🐶

Can we just normalize smiling and moving on?

I can’t even count how many times i’ve heard someone say “is your dog friendly” or “can she say hi to your dog”. I personally will never allow a stranger dog “say hi” to my dog! Here’s why.

If you were out at a grocery store, would you stop and have a whole conversation with every stranger you pass by? Probably not… Think about how uncomfortable and unreasonable that would be! This can be the same with dogs!

Smile and keep on walking whenever you see another dog out on a walk or in public, really think if it will benefit your dog! Remember, your dog has boundaries too!!

The Herm Springer prong collar vs off-brand prong collars

This is for educational purposes only, please do not go out and buy a prong collar without consulting a trainer first and understanding how to properly use it and condition it. Prong collars should be used as a training tool and can be a great communication tool while training our dogs. The prong collar should never be on your dog while they are unattended. The prong collar should sit high up on the neck, just below the ears and should be properly fitted.
