Come on out to Pooch-A-Palooza Saturday September 7th from 8am-12pm! I will be doing a quick demo for the Dog trick competition as well as a loose leash walking demo!
Stop by my booth and talk to me about service dogs, dog training tools, or tips and tricks to help turn your dog into the amazing dog you know they can be! There will be dog service/products to purchase and plenty of fun things to do with your dog.

Please welcome this handsome guy to the DBK9 training roster! This is Astro, he is a 2 year old (ish) Australian Shepherd who has some reactivity issues that we are going to be working through in the hopes that he will be able to participate in his parents wedding!
Today was one of the days I was super thankful for all the training I've done with Xena! Her Lazy Leash decided it was done and no longer wanted to unroll so she worked off leash the entire time, we had a short outing but she was fantastic. She stayed close and listened to all commands as expected, she even got a few compliments on how well she was behaving! As you can tell by the last pic she was super tired from having to work so hard lol
We had a great time hanging out with Baymax and his people at the dog show this weekend! It was a great opportunity to see how Baymax would handle a loud and chaotic environment, as expected he did fantastic! Xena didn't fail to impress as always, showing Baymax the ropes on how to just chill and watch the world go by. Tuesday Baymax finished up the basic obedience course and is now rolling into getting into task training so he can be more helpful to his mom. I could not be happier with the progress they have made and look forward to seeing all the cool things they get up to!
We spent the morning of the 4th of July with client/friend Charlie and his mom Mrs. Linda! This was Charlie's first time at the beach, with some encouragement from his mom and Xena he went out into the water and by the end of the walk was enjoying playing in the waves. Even since our sessions have ended he and Mrs. Linda have continued to make improvements as well as being fantastic additions to each other's lives!

I hope everyone is doing well after dealing with the chaos and aftermath caused by Hurricane Beryl. We are still without power but are blessed enough to have a generator as well as a couple small a/c units. Even with all thats going on we still were able to make it out to walk a few times with the sour patch kid. Got a few updates coming next week on Eugene and Baymax so check back soon for those!

I've been getting all the exercise between clients and walking this guy during the day so he can potty and get out some energy before his mom gets home!

What do Monday mornings look like for you?
This morning in the Dirty Bay K9 house we were up early prepping dog snacks and supplements for the week! Started a 24 hour beef bone broth, boiled carrots to freeze them as healthy cooling snacks, and finally made a blueberry puree with local honey, coconut oil, kefir, and a little bit of cinnamon!
I enjoy preparing meals for people I care about and that's no different with my dogs, anytime I have the opportunity to add something to their food that is good for them and I know they will enjoy I try to do it!

I know I've said it before but the best part of having well trained dogs is being able to take them places. Our most recent trip was basically planned around the dogs we went to a 138 acre dog park and did LOTS of hiking. We visited the Pecos National History Park, had the best time hiking there, and checking out all of the historical monuments. Xena joined us on an open air bus tour that was pet friendly, we decided against taking Sasha and Sam just to give them a break from all of the chaos of the vacation lol. Not every dog is a vacation dog and that is absolutely okay! Socialization makes such a difference in what your dog can handle.
Had a great session with the sour patch kid and his mom! We worked on some more socialization as well as using our new skills out in public, he did fantastic with most things but there are still some things to work on. It's hard to be perfect but this guy sure tries hard!

This is probably one of my favorite things I've taught my dogs, how to just watch the world go by.
My favorite part of working with clients is being able to tell when they are sticking to the program, this little dude is 5 months and is loose leash walking like a pro! His mom works hard with this guy, it's been a blast working with them both so far but we still have so much to accomplish!
Hello everyone! Y'all know me, any chance I get to help someone I'm all over it, I have someone in need of 2 wire kennels and dog food. He owns 2 dogs that sometimes get into it with each other and he wants to be able to safely contain then away from each other when possible. Both He and his mom are on disability and don't really have any spare money to purchase new kennels. If anyone has some they would be willing to part with I will happily come pick them up. Looking for medium or larger kennels or if anyone would like to donate towards me being able to purchase some used kennels off of marketplace that would be a great help! I should be able to handle the dog food portion of it but again will gladly take donations.

Had a great pack walk yesterday with Sunnys family! 4 dogs with varying ages, breeds, and personalities all did fantastic as we walked together. We passed by several other dogs on the trail and only had one issue that was corrected quickly. I love when my clients put in the work to make their dogs lives better.

Finally on time with an intro, this cutie is Eugene! Eugene is around 4 months old, starting with our basic obedience program before transitioning to advanced obedience. His mom was ready to roll, starting with his first session the day after our consultation! He's a smart pup with a mom who is already showing her dedication to his training.
In the second picture he looks sad but I can assure you he is puppy dog eyeing my shoes that he wanted me to let him eat lol.
Everyone knows I'm usually late on doing intros so this isn't new lol. This handsome personal healthcare companion is BAYMAX, Baymax is a little over 2 years old going through our obedience course to start out then transitioning into psychiatric service dog training to be able to better assist his mom/handler! He is doing amazing, very handler focused, dog neutral, and eager to please. Heading to our first outing with him later today so look for another post of his handsome face soon!

Better late than never when it comes to intros lol. This girl with the fantastic head tilt is Daisy Mae! Daisy Mae is going through our basic obedience course currently as going to pet friendly stores in hopes to be a service dog for her mom/handler in the future! Daisy is a Belgian Malinois/German shepherd mix puppy who loves her people and SNACKS lol.
Zelda had a great session last week working on her recall in a completely new environment! Next week her owner will be with us so we can work hard on getting her recall under control. The last picture is the message her owner sent me later that day showing me that she was still passed out about 6 hours after our session lol
"What do you do when you aren't training other people's dogs?" Well I work with my heathens so they don't embarrass me in public lol. These two have struggled with following commands when out and about together so today we worked on that! They both behaved wonderfully, we worked on down stays, sit stay, and loose leash walking. They know all of these things but it never hurts to get in extra practice!
This duo is 2 year old Hank the tank and his 14 year old companion Daisy Mae, Hank is going through our basic obedience and behavior modification course while Ms. Daisy is just happy to be involved! I am well aware Hank is very nervous looking with his whale eye and not heard in the picture is his low growl, this was when I learned he is not a fan of people bending down near him. Hank is a rescue, he recently completed his heartworm treatment and his owner is still finding out all of his quirks. He is a sweet soul who is known by his mom as a foodie lol. He has already made great improvements, when I first started working with him he didn't know how to sit on command now he does as well as mastering the leave it command!
This handsome BIG boy is Fred, Fred is a 10 month old lab who is going through our behavior modification and basic obedience course! He's been doing fantastic so far, his owners are very excited to see his progress and see how smart their big guy is.
I have an opportunity for a really cool and fun event but I need to have at minimum 12 people interested! I would like to host a paint your pet party at painting with a twist in baytown, it's $60 per person for 3 hours. This is a guided experience so I have received a guarantee that you WILL NOT leave with a ugly painting. Your pet doesn't have to just be a dog it can be your cat, bird, snake, cow, WHATEVER you'd like! As a bonus I will refund one lucky person their $60 back to them as a thank you for showing my company some love!

Had a great session last week with the girls and the handsome Mr. Sebastian. Sebby is dog reactive but as you can see has made some changes! The girls know to respect his space and it has helped Sebby so much in his ability to ignore them and be neutral in most situations. I know these aren't the most flattering pictures of him but I just wanted to show how well he was doing being that close to other dogs lol.
Big shout out to the employees of they are always so respectful of me bringing training clients in as well as being helpful with anything I need!

These pictures won't seem like much for some people but I love to see it! These two have had some issues when it comes to seeing who is the top dog in the house, we have worked a lot on just existing neutrally with each other and it has made a huge difference for their owner. Their owner has been a joy to work with, she's soaked in all of the information and seen amazing results! Small changes give big results!

Took little Miss Daisy out to the dog park for the first time and she did pretty well for her first time being around new dogs. She even made a new friend!

A little bit of post training playtime, they were playing tug of war with his leash. As I stated in the video she is not pulling on his prong collar, his leash is attached to the flat collar the prong is just on him still. Do we let them do this all the time? Absolutely not. However they had both worked beautifully and deserved a little bit of playtime before having to say goodbye to each other.
Had a great time working with Presley, we have made amazing strides in training. Come when called has been something we have struggled with but its slowly getting better!
