Cancellation/Rescheduling/NO SHOW Policy
Effective January 29/22
The time has come to implement a better business solution for last minute cancellations and rescheduling requests. While I understand that things pop up at the last minute, this is a big part of my livelihood and these spots could have easily been filled by others as I’m booked solid for 5 to 6 weeks. That said, it’s not always easy
to scramble and fill that spot at the last moment and this takes time away from working with other dogs and of course, my family time. Therefore, moving forward, in order to get on my schedule a non-refundable booking fee will be required up front by etransfer to confirm your spot(s). The amount will be half of your first lesson fee (based on location, so it could be between $45 - $60). This fee will carry forward to your last lesson and be deducted from that lesson. Additionally, if you fail to complete the lessons as planned, the booking fee will not be returned. I appreciate as always, the incredible support from my clients, family and friends!

Beautiful Bernese pups! Mother and son! However they are big time jumpers especially on there dog walker. The other issue is Pikachu, the younger one loves you with an open mouth and while he's not being aggressive, he is indeed biting too hard and leaving a bloodtrail. We talked about many different things to try and we are all feeling very hopeful for positive changes!

I'm such a bad dog Mama.... Manny's Gotcha day was yesterday and I didn't post 😂 but seriously, one year with this crazy, amazing dog! He went from a non potty trained, non leash trained, non much of anything trained, to a fairly well trained dog in obedience, agility and rally. Icing on the cake is him being my service dog in training!
We've had quite the year and other than the barking, OMG the barking! .... I wouldn't change a thing! 💗🐾

Oh look at this sweet little face! KellyAnne is a potcake from Barbados and is a shy and nervous girl. She's also the biggest snugglebug you'll ever meet! She landed with an amazing family who took years to wait for their perfect little addition, I'm so excited to be a part of her journey!

Lucy has really been doing great but struggling in her walks.... She simply can't get there quick enough so pulls till she chokes herself! We have been trying different methods and will certainly find the right one soon!

Drive all the way to Beaverton to meet Winston and his family! He's had a lot going on all around him which prompted some unwanted behaviours. Hoping we nipped them in the bud, can't wait for an update!

Manny completed his advanced agility classes last night and came in 2nd place!! If he hadn't of decided to just hang out in the first tube, he may have taken 1st place 😂😂😂

Everytime I see Lucy I think she is a miniature version of my Dottie! Lucy is around the 10lb mark and Dottie is around 45lbs but isn't their likeness uncanny?!!
Lucy has been making great headway since her arrival from Costa Rica just a month or so ago!

So many thanks to my loyal clients, followers, friends and family! This year we hit Platinum in AjaX/Pickering and Gold in Oshawa/Whitby (This is only my 2nd time in the top 3 in this area, so it's an extra yay!)
You are ALL the reason I continue to do what I do and still love it as much as I did over 7 years ago!!

Today was all about Teddy! Hard to believe this sweet little face can be behind some unwanted behaviors but here we are! Some great strategies are now in place and I can't wait to see the changes!

For the month of October, all Jetta Jacks products will be 20% off! (the prices listed below are the regular prices). If I don't have what you want in stock, I'll place an order at the end of the month from everyone's order to avoid additional shipping costs!
Don't forget, when you purchase through me, you are helping two small businesses... mine and Jetta Jacks, who by the way, are an Ontario based company and make their products from recycled water bottles! So now's the time to shop for your pup's leash and collar accessories!

Hike! Bike! And Bark! completed for 2024! Manny and I were the last of the 5km walkers to cross the finish line thanks to me forgetting my knee brace and to take Tylenol for my back. I also had a volunteer take a picture of us at Mom and Dad's condo seeing as the route took us straight past. I also raised my goal again to $500, double what my initial goal was! I'm at $475 and donations can be made through the posted link up to Tuesday!
Thank you so much everyone, Eds House and hospice are very close to my heart 💜 https://www.hikebikebarkforhospice.ca/cathy-cope

This is what I received from Lucy's family -
"We recently adopted Lucy who is a rescue from Costa Rica. She is so sweet and affectionate with humans, however she has been showing aggression towards our 9 year old maltese mix. Hoping to learn how to teach her that she is not the dominant one and learns to not show aggression. She also shows aggression with food."
We covered a lot in our first session and I can't wait to hear how their first week goes!

This beautiful girl is Luna! She's experiencing some pretty major separation anxiety and needs some help not pulling so much!

Ok, I'm tossing this idea out there to see what kind of interest there might be. My Manny and I have been having a blast learning agility at My Bark Avenue Academy and I know there's not much around locally for pups to play. I'm thinking of getting a space and setting up up some basic equipment. It would be informal, thinking like a drop in, $20 per hour session. You can learn how to use the equipment while having fun and bonding with your dog! Let me know if this interests you and if I have enough people, I'll make it happen!

This Friday is Friday the 13th, it was my Dad's favorite day and we often celebrated with cake and balloons! This year, to honour his memory I am asking for a simple $13 donation to my fundraising efforts of the Hike! Bike! and Bark! event in support of Ed's House, the hospice that took such good care of him (and us!) in his final days! Thank you everyone!! I'm half way to my goal! https://www.hikebikebarkforhospice.ca/cathy-cope

Many thanks to Murphy, Noah and Lily's family for being so understanding while I suffer with a man-cold 😂 and postponing our lesson today!
I did however get to visit with Murphy at My Bark Avenue Academy last night as he's at Boot Camp to work in his aggression. Safe to say he was happy to see me!
I'm slowly creating two confident dog owners!! When the dogs learn to trust the humans they realize they don't have to lunge at other dogs, people or bikes etc they can just enjoy their walk in their own little 'bubble'!
On Friday night Manny and I attended his agility class and as a bonus he's now also learning Rally! Here is our very first attempt, each sign has different obedience instructions that must be followed exactly. The hardest part is understanding what the pictures in the signs mean!!
We visited our dear friend Catherine of My Bark Avenue Academy today and Manny got to try out the agility course!! Just like that she approved him to join her advanced agility classes! Considering he's never done it before I am so proud of him (and maybe a little proud of me too!!)
Bear did fantastic at his first go around with PLACE!!!

A Dog Trainer? Me? Why not!
My journey to becoming a dog trainer is quite simple, because it started with becoming a dog owner myself!
In 2014, I adopted my first of two dogs from Taiwan, Dottie and adopted Tiana the following year in 2015. With no idea what I was doing, I attended beginner, intermediate and advanced classes with both dogs, learning and making mistakes along the way. I began reading books and watching training videos online to better myself as a dog owner, and to help my dogs succeed.
As I became more confident, I found myself easily answering questions for other dog owners, and providing tips that worked for me, to help improve their relationship with their pups. This felt so amazing, and I loved helping other dog lovers.
At that point, I asked my dog trainer about the process to becoming a dog trainer myself. And as simple as that, she took me under her wing as an apprentice. Not only did this allow me to gain incredible knowledge and experience, but it also allowed me to develop my own techniques and learn what works for different dogs and owners. By the end of my apprenticeship, I was teaching classes on my own! It all felt so natural, almost as if I was meant to do this!
I started FMD Training in August 2017 to help dog owners, just like me, learn to build and embrace a relationship with their dog(s). My training services have become a huge part of me, and nothing brings me more joy or satisfaction than watching you and your dog have those "Aha" moments!
